Saturday, the Village of Corfu celebrated its annual Winterfest with music, hockey, magic, clowns and food.

Above, Paul "Sebar" Schuler fashions a balloon butterfly for 3-year-old Sydney, with her mother, Laura Corbitt, of Corfu.

Deputy Brian Thompson provided demonstrations of his K-9 work with "Pharaoh."

Aaron Wilkins, of Corfu, brought several of his snakes for visitors to see.

Joanne Furer and Ben, 10, of Pittsford, make a "bobble head" video.

Salvation Army hosts Harvest Festival Oct. 2

The Salvation Army will host a Harvest Festival on Friday, Oct. 2 at its gymnasium, located at 529 E. Main St. in Batavia.

There will be a huge rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with used clothing, toys, books, linens, electric goods, furniture, houseware and more.

There will be lots of food available for sale, including breakfast sandwiches, hot dogs, cold plates, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, sweet potato fries, French fries, sausage sandwiches, salads, soft drinks and popcorn.

In addition, there will be a giant bake sale from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. with pies, coffee, sweets and farm produce.

In the evening, from 7 to 9:30, the Harvest Auction takes place. A professional auctioneer will oversee bidding on new merchandise, gift baskets, gift certificates and farm produce.
