St. Padre Pio Parish holds annual Penny Social at Elba fire hall

St. Padre Pio Parish is holding their annual Penny Social on Sunday, December 2 at the Elba Fireman's Recreation Hall, Rte. 98, Elba. Doors open at noon, drawings begin at 2 p.m. Hundreds of prizes and baskets, some for only a penny a ticket!.  Refreshments, 50/50 drawing, door prize and $100 money tree give away.

Round, Square, and Line Dance at Pembroke Community Center in Corfu

Music by Gary Burdick & Edge of Sundown.  Chinese auction.  Admission for dancers is $7, for spectators is $4 and under age 16 is free.  Line dance instruction by Diane Winters.  Community Center is located at 116 E. 'DC in the Square' to benefit Don Carroll

"DC in the Square" is scheduled for Sunday, July 29 in Batavia's Jackson Square from noon until 4 pm. It is a benefit for Don Carroll, who has spent most of his life raising money for kids in need in Genesee County and is now battling esophageal cancer.

The event will include live performances by "Old Hippies," "Soul Craft" and "Savage Cabbage" as well as a Chinese auction and 50/50 raffle. Everyone is asked to contribute a minimum $2 donation at the gate.

Presale BBQ tickets can be purchased at the following Batavia locations:

  • T-Shirts Etc., 111 Main St.
  • Clor's Meat Market, 4169 W. Main St. Road
  • Coffee Culture, 6 Court St.

Ray Patnode, Jr. Fundraiser

October 17 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Spaghetti dinner fundraiser for the benefit of Ray Patnode, Jr., who is awaiting a heart transplant.  The purpose of the fundraiser is to help defray medical and prescription expenses.

Dinner will be at St. James Episcopal Church, 405 East Main Street, Batavia, NY from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M.  50/50 drawing at 7:00 P.M.  Do not need to be present to win.  Chinese auction at 7:00 P.M.  Take-outs available.

Batavia’s Irish Afternoon

Fundraiser

 

 

Batavia’s Irish Afternoon celebration will be held in the Genesee Community College Forum from 2 to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 29.  This afternoon of family-oriented fun will feature dancing by the award-winning McMahon School of Irish Dance.  The musical entertainment will be provided by Step In Time.  Attendees will be treated to delectable desserts, snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages.  Additional fun will be offered in the form of Chinese auctions and 50/50 raffles. 

Tickets cost $10. Children 10 and under are free when accompanied by an adult.

The event will benefit the non-profit McMahon School of Irish Dance Parents’ Group, which will use the funds for dancers’travel and performance expenses.

Reminder for Benefit for Carl Bish

I just want to remind everyone that tomorrow (the 17th) is a big day in the Oakfield community.  Oakfield Youth Group is having a spaghetti dinner - chinese auction for 9th grader Carl Bish at the Oakfield Fire Hall.  Carl has recently been diagnosed with cancer and we are hoping to raise money to help the family with growing costs.  The event is 4:30 - 7:30 at the Oakfield Fire Hall.  Tickets are $7.00 adults, $5.00 kids 12 and under.

We have been overwhelmed by the generousity of the whole area.  We have over 125 baskets for the Chinese auction, plus numerous large items that are to be raffled off.  I hope everyone can come and see what great kids we have in our community.

Oakfield Youth Group plans benefit for 9th grader

Oakfield Community Youth Group hosts a benefit for Carl Bish Jr. Carl is a 9th grader at OACS that has recently been diagnosed with cancer. Carl and his family are active in many activities at school - Carl was on the JV football team this year. Our local youth have decided to have a spaghetti dinner - chinese auction for Carl and the Bish family.
