Three people injured, two needing helicopter transport, in accident on West Main Street, Batavia

Two people were taken to regional hospitals by Mercy Flight after an accident at 2:40 p.m. on West Main Street at the turn-in for Valu Plaza.

Both people, the driver of one car and his passenger, had non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was taken ECMC and the passenger to Strong Memorial Hospital.

A third person, the driver of a red Chevy Avalanche involved in the crash, was taken to Strong by Mercy EMS.

Reportedly, the driver of a blue Chevy Aveo was making a left-hand turn from the westbound lane into Valu Plaza. He allegedly pulled in front of the red Avalanche.

City and Town of Batavia fire departments responded and Sheriff's deputies are investigating the accident.

Batavia police seek public's help for hit-and-run accident behind the YMCA

Batavia police are investigating a hit-and-run accident which occurred on Thursday, Oct. 25, between 2:15 p.m. and 2:20 p.m. in the rear parking lot of the YMCA at 209 E. Main St.

A white Chevrolet van, belonging to Next Generation Vending, was struck by another vehicle. The van had been parked along the sidewalk behind the building and was struck by a vehicle backing out of one of the 15-minute parking spaces.

The suspect vehicle is a newer black SUV which had a Web address written on the back hatch. The Web address was "(an unknown word) signs.com" and the driver of the suspect vehicle may have been an older male wearing a ball cap. It appears that he may not have been aware that he struck another vehicle.

Anybody with information is asked to call the Batavia PD at 345-6350.

Vehicle rollover, no injuries, on Bloomingdale Road

Some type of equipment has rolled over in the area of 837 Bloomingdale Road, Tonawanda Indian Reservation.

The driver is out and uninjured.

Unknown if it's leaking any type of fluid.

Traffic is blocked.

Alabama Fire Department responding.

UPDATE 4:37 p.m.: A chief on scene reports he's informed the accident location is at Bloomingdale and Meadville. The equipment is a "Land All."  Primarily, Alabama fire needed for traffic control while workers try to upright the vehicle, which is on its side.

UPDATE 4:52 p.m.: Bloomingdale at Meadville will be shut down.

UPDATE 5:44 p.m.: The equipment has been uprighted and removed from the road. The road is reopened. Alabama is back in service.

Two-car accident, with injuries, in Alexander

A two-car accident with injuries is reported on Alexander Road, just south of Goodman Road. Alexander Fire Department and medics are responding.

UPDATE 2:02 p.m.: One patient was transported to UMMC. Alexander is back in service.

Driver who hit tree said he was trying to avoid a deer

A driver said he swerved to try and avoid a deer in the roadway, causing his car to strike a tree on Lewiston Road, in Oakfield, at 10:47 p.m., Sunday.

Rodney L. McKenzie, 48, of Lewston Road, Basom, was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy EMS with minor injuries.

McKenzie was westbound on Lewiston near Bliss Road, driving a 2010 Toyota sedan, when he said he spotted a deer in the roadway.

There were no passengers in his vehicle and no other cars were involved.

The accident was investigated by Deputy James Diehl, who issued McKenzie a citation for allegedly not wearing a seat belt.

Driver says she fell asleep prior to accident on Creek Road

A driver says she fell asleep at the wheel Saturday afternoon leading to a one-car rollover accident on Creek Road near Putnam Road.

Linda M. Drumstra, 59, of Brookville Road, Alexander, was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight with non-life-threatening injuries.

Drumstra was driving a 2009 Toyota SUV northbound on Creek Road when her vehicle went off the roadway, struck two trees and overturned, coming to rest on the driver's side.

The accident was investigated by Deputy Chris Parker, who issued a citation to Drumstra for allegedly moving from lane unsafely.

Car into tree accident reported at Ledge and Reuben

A car has reportedly hit a tree in the area of Ledge Road and Reuben Road, Alabama.

UPDATE 8:16 p.m.: Minor, if any, injuries. Everybody is out of the car.

One-vehicle rollover with injuries on the rez

A one-vehicle rollover accident with injuries is reported on the Tonawanda Indian Reservation at Meadville and Parker roads. The victim is out of the vehicle, but injured. Alabama Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. A responder on scene says there was air-bag deployment and Mercy Flight is put on ground standby.

UPDATE 12:48 p.m.: Mercy Flight is asked to stand down. The driver has a leg injury. The car is on its side and the engine is still running.

Two-car crash at West Saile Drive and Call Parkway, Batavia

A two-car accident with minor injuries is reported at West Saile Drive and Call Parkway. Town of Batavia Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 11:50 a.m.: The accident is not blocking traffic. One car is off the roadway.

UPDATE 11:53 a.m.: A second ambulance is called in for a child, about 4 years old, who is alert and oriented but covered with broken glass. The child was on the passenger side of a vehicle, which was heavily damaged. Extrication of one victim will be required.

UPDATE 12:11 p.m.: The patient has been extricated.

UPDATE 12:25 p.m.: All patients are going to UMMC. None of them had loss of consciousness. One is a 34-year-old female who has neck and back pain. Another is a 5-year-old, who was in a car seat and has no complaints of pain. The third patient is a 42-year-old male driver who was wearing a seat belt and also has no complaints of pain. Town of Batavia is back in service.

One vehicle rollover, driver entrapped, at Creek and Putnam roads, Bethany

A one-vehicle rollover accident with injury is reported at Creek and Putnam roads. A Sheriff's deputy on scene says the accident is completely blocking traffic. There is one victim with a leg injury and he will need to be extricated since the vehicle is on its side. Bethany Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. Alexander fire police are also requested to the scene.

Southbound traffic will be stopped at Dorman and Creek roads.

UPDATE 12:42 p.m.: Mercy Flight will be responding.

UPDATE 12:54 p.m.: Mercy Flight has landed. The patient has been extricated. A flatbed tow truck is called to the scene.

UPDATE 1:05 p.m.: Mercy Flight 5 is en route to Strong. Verizon has been notified that a phone box near the accident site was destroyed.

UPDATE 1:10 p.m.: Bethany fire and Mercy medics are back in service.

UPDATE 1:35 p.m.: All responders are back in service.

Car wreck with injuries on Alleghany Road, Corfu

A two-car accident with injuries is reported at 9114 Alleghany Road, in front of the hair salon and in a construction area. One driver is unresponsive. Corfu Fire Department and Mercy EMS are responding.

UPDATE 1:31 p.m.: A second ambulance is requested.

UPDATE 1:32 p.m.: The driver who was unresponsive is now alert and answering questions.

UPDATE 1:47 p.m.: The driver who is the more injured of the two victims, a woman who was initially unresponsive, is now said to be "sort of alert." "She rear-ended the other car and took a pretty good blow," says a responder. Sheriff's deputies are also on scene. The other driver is out and able to walk.

UPDATE 1:59 p.m. One patient is being transported to Erie County Medical Center.

UPDATE 2:05 p.m.: A second victim is also being taken to ECMC being taken to UMMC. She is 64-year-old female whose vehicle was struck from behind. All units are clearing the scene.

One person hurt in three-car accident at Ledge and Route 77, Alabama

The driver of a 2004 Olds sedan stopped on Ledge Road at 1:36 p.m. reportedly pulled out onto Route 77 as another car approached, causing a three-car accident in Alabama.

One person, Leah E. Ridder, 14, was injured and taken by ambulance to Medina Memorial Hospital.

Cited for alleged failure to yield the right of way was Donna M. Croft, 59, of Montclaire Avenue, Batavia.

Neither Croft nor her passenger, Dalton K. Tusing, were injured.

Leah Ridder was a passenger in a car driven by Christopher F. Ridder, 41, of South Main Street, Medina.

Ridder's 1999 Chevy sedan was northbound on Route 77 when it struck Croft's eastbound car.

A car driven by Judith M. Cummings, 68, of Martin Road, Akron, was sitting in the westbound lane of Ledge Road and was struck by Croft's vehicle after it was hit by Ridder's car.

Neither Cummings nor her passenger, James L. Cummings, 67, were injured.

The accident was investigated by Deputy Chris Parker.

Car crash at Route 77 and Ledge Road, Alabama

A three-car accident with one minor facial injury is reported at Route 77 and Ledge Road. It is partially blocking traffic. Alabama Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. Law enforcement is on scene.

Husband and wife from Bethany collide in accident in Middlebury

A 65-year-old Bethany resident was injured Thursday, Oct. 26, when his motorcycle was struck by a car driven by his wife on Bank Road in the Town of Middlebury.

Ronald H. Stanton was stopped on the highway facing north talking with a person in another vehicle that was parked on the shoulder.

Ellen J. Stanton, 59, failed to see her husband stopped on the road and her vehicle struck the rear of the motorcycle ejecting Stanton.

Ronald Stanton suffered head, shoulder and knee injuries. He was transported by Warsaw Ambulance to Wyoming County Hospital.

Ellen Stanton was transported to UMMC by Mercy EMS for hand and arm injuries.

None of the injuries are considered life threatening and no citations were issued.

The accident was investigated by State Police in Warsaw.

Car crash on West Sweden Road, Bergen

A two-car accident, with unknown injuries, is reported in Bergen at 5853 W. Sweden Road, south of the intersection with North Bergen Road. Bergen fire and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 3:20 p.m.: There is reportedly one patient.

UPDATE 3:21 p.m.: One of the cars is leaking fluids.

UPDATE 3:29 p.m.: Cook Road at Creamery will be shut to traffic.

UPDATE 3:31 p.m.: Eastbound traffic on North Bergen Road will be turned back at West Sweden.

UPDATE 4:01 p.m.: One patient is being taken to Strong Memorial Hospital. Tow trucks are responding to the scene to remove the wrecked vehicles.

Person in Bergen falls 15 feet from residential rooftop

A person has fallen 15 feet from a residential rooftop on Clinton Street, Bergen.

Bergen fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

A medical first responder reports Mercy Flight will not be needed.

The call is the second report this morning of a person falling from a roof. The first was on Pearl Street Road in East Pembroke's district.

UPDATE 9:15 a.m.: Patient being transported to Strong.

Unexpected turn signal reportedly caused biker to lose control

A motorcyclist who was injured in a rollover accident at 1:41 p.m., Friday, said a rider on another bike unexpectedly put on a right-turn signal.

Michale P. Julicher, 61, of Millersport Highway, Amherst, was riding on Bloomingdale Road, Alabama. He said he tried to lay down his 2009 Honda because he didn't believe he had time to stop.

Julicher was transported to ECMC by Mercy Flight.

The accident was investigated by Deputy Chris Parker. No citations were issued.

Car wreck with injuries on Park Road, Batavia

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries is reported in front of 8204 Park Road, just off of Oak Street. Town of Batavia Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 5:22 p.m.: A responder on scene says there's one minor chest injury, probably due to seat belt friction. Three vehicles are involved.
