Pedestrian reportedly hit by car in Bergen

A pedestrian has reportedly been hit by a car on Townline Road west of South Lake Road, Bergen.

Bergen fire and ambulance dispatched.  

Dispatchers checking the availability of Mercy Flight.

UPDATE 11:54 a.m.: The driver may also be injured. Second ambulance requested to the scene.

UPDATE 11:59 a.m.: Byron fire's rescue and ambulance requested to the scene.

UPDATE 12:01 p.m.: Fire police requested to shut down traffic at Route 19 and Buffalo Street.

UPDATE 1:05 p.m.: Trooper James O'Callahan, public information officer for the State Police, confirms that NYSP is investigating a fatal car/pedestrian accident in Bergen. No further information is being released at this time.

UPDATE 3:09 p.m.: Bergen assignment back in service. The road is reopened.

Man falls off roof in Stafford

A man has reportedly fallen off a two-story roof at a location on Horseshoe Lake Road in Stafford.

Stafford fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

Mercy Flight available if needed.

UPDATE(S) (By Billie) (11:08 a.m.): A first responder on scene says the man fell about eight feet. He is conscious and alert and is answering some questions.

UPDATE 11:10 a.m.: Mercy Flight was cancelled.

Accident partially blocking traffic at School and Center streets in the city

A two-car accident is reported in the city at Center and School streets downtown. It is partially blocking traffic. Occupants are out; one male has a minor head injury and is conscious and alert. City fire, Mercy medics and police are on scene. Two flatbed tows are called.

Motorcycle crash reported off Ledge Road in Alabama

A motorcycle accident is reported at 1075 Ledge Road in Alabama. Mercy Flight #5 in Batavia is on standby. The rider is in a cornfield and was not moving, but is now said to be moving. Alabama Fire Department is responding, along with Mercy medics and law enforcement. The location is between Reuben Road and Route 77.

UPDATE 2:15 p.m.: A first responder on scene reports the rider is conscious and alert. Mercy Flight standby is cancelled.

Young driver tells deputy he struck a deer prior to accident, deputy reports he didn't

An 18-year-old driver at first claimed he swerved to avoid a deer prior to a two-vehicle accident at 11:20 p.m., Tuesday, on Route 5 in Batavia that injured him and the driver of a box truck.

Then the driver told a deputy he struck the deer and it shattered his windshield.

Deputy Ryan Young, who prepared the accident report, wrote in the report, "There was no evidence on vehicle 1 to indicate that a deer was struck by any portion of the vehicle."

Charges may be pending against Dante D. Mancuso, of West Main Street, Batavia. He was driving a 2006 BMW SUV. He was transported to UMMC for evaluation following the accident.

Joseph Ruhland Jr., 53, of Old Dominion Way, Thomasville, was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Mancuso was westbound on Route 5 in the area of 3975 W. Main Street Road when his vehicle crossed the center line and clipped a Ruhland's box truck, causing Ruhland to lose control and the truck jackknifed. It crossed into the westbound lane and overturned, coming to rest against a stone wall after the rear trailer detached from the truck.

Volunteer firefighters extricated Ruhland from the truck.

The accident remains under investigation.

Three-car collision reported on Main Road in Stafford

A three-vehicle accident with injuries that is blocking traffic is reported in Stafford at 6303 Main Road. The location is between Route 237 and Roanoke Road. Stafford Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding along with law enforcement.

UPDATE 5:20 p.m.: A first responder on scene reports only two vehicles involved. One person has a head injury; another complains of chest pain. One lane of traffic is completely blocked.

UPDATE 5:25 p.m.: Route 237 is closed to traffic. One person involved in the accident is a sign-off; the other is being evaluated.

UPDATE 6:02 p.m.: Stafford command puts the assignment back in service. The road is reopened.

Semi on its side, driver unable to exit on West Main Street Road, Batavia

A box-style semitruck is on its side at 3977 W. Main Street Road in Batavia and the driver unable to exit the vehicle, according to a caller to dispatch. Law enforcement and Mercy medics are responding along with Town of Batavia Fire Department.

UPDATE 11:57 p.m.: The driver is conscious; a heavy-duty tow truck is needed to upright the vehicle. It's estimated weight is 73,000 pounds, unknown cargo in rear trailer.

Skateboarder struck by vehicle on Colorado Avenue in the city

A skateboarder has been struck by a vehicle at 16 Colorado Ave. in the City of Batavia. The location is between Ellicott Place and Harvester Avenue. City fire and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 8 p.m.: The skateboarder is conscious and alert and being evaluated by medics at the scene. Unknown injuries, if any. The black Jeep in the forefront of the photo allegedly struck the skateboarder.

UPDATE: The patient was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for evaluation. He is a juvenile. No further information is available. No charges anticipated.

Harvester Avenue motorcyclist dies from injuries sustained Saturday in crash with bicyclist on Route 5

From the Genesee County Sheriff's Office:

A motorcyclist succumbed to injuries yesterday that he sustained in a crash with a bicyclist Saturday (April 25) on Route 5 at Wortendyke Road in the Town of Batavia.

Joshua T. Fullmer, 27, of Harvester Avenue, Batavia, was transported by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center after his 2014 Yamaha collided with a bicycle late in the afternoon.

Cassidy A. Underhill, the 16-year-old bicyclist, was northbound on Wortendyke, attempting to cross Route 5 when the accident happened. She was also airlifted to ECMC and remains in serious condition with multiple injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Genesee County Sheriff's Office.

Two people seriously injured in bicycle, motorcycle accident on Route 5

A bicyclist and a motorcycle rider were both seriously injured this evening in a crash on Route 5 at Wortendyke Road, Batavia.

A 17-year-old female from Batavia, whose name was not released, was riding a bike northbound on Wortendyke, according to the Sheriff's Office, when she attempted to cross Route 5.

Joshua Fullmer, 27, of Harvester Avenue, was eastbound on a 2014 Yamaha motorcycle.

The motorcycle collided with the bicycle.

Both patients were transported by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center. 

The crash is being investigated by the Sheriff's Office. Charges may be pending.

Also responding to the scene were the State Police, Le Roy Ambulance, Town of Batavia Fire, East Pembroke Fire, Mercy EMS, and members of the Emergency Management team.

Accident with pole down reported in Stafford

A one-car accident is reported just west of the intersection of East Bethany-Le Roy Road and Roanoke Road in Stafford. The vehicle struck a pole and it is down. Wires are possibly in the roadway.

The operator was out of the vehicle and "walking toward Le Roy," says the dispatcher, and is now with a first responder. It is unknown if the driver is injured. Stafford Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 8:26 a.m.: A deputy at the scene reports heavy front-end damage and calls for a flatbed tow truck. The vehicle is about 15 feet off the roadway.

UPDATE 8:28 a.m.: The pole is snapped in half and a heavy wire is hanging low over the roadway.

Two people injured Monday night in accident in Bethany

Two people were injured in an accident at about 10:30 p.m., Monday, in the area of 5875 Ellicott Street Road, Bethany.

One of the people injured was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight.

One person was transported to UMMC by ground ambulance.

The names of the drivers, according to an NYSP blotter entry, were Harold P. Gage, 77, of Le Roy, and William W. Berkemeier, 51, of Pavilion.

We don't know the name of the person transported by Mercy Flight. The State Police have not released further information about the accident.

An injury accident is reported in the area of 5875 Ellicott Street Road, Bethany.

One person may be unconscious.

Le Roy man, two others injured in early-morning crash in Pembroke

Three people, including a Le Roy resident, were injured when a National Grid line repair truck and a box truck collided at 3:40 a.m. at Brick House Corners in Pembroke.

The Sheriff's Office reports that a 2011 Freightliner box truck driven by Kimaly Satchel-el, 33, of Lafayette Avenue, Syracuse, was southbound on Route 77. Luis H. Welch, 32, of West Main Street, Le Roy, was driving eastbound on Route 5 in a 2014 Freightliner utility truck. 

Satchel-el allegedly failed to yield the right-of-way at the intersection of Route 5 and Route 77 and struck the utility truck.

Upon impact, the box truck rotated counterclockwise and came to rest facing north off of the north should of Route 5.  

The utility truck traveled off the southeast corner of the intersection, coming to rest facing southeast.

Satchel-el was extricated from the truck by volunteer firefighters. He was unconscious at the time of the extrication and sustained multiple injuries and was transported by Mercy EMS to ECMC. His passenger, Candace R. Keith, 21, of Brooklyn, was also transported to ECMC for treatment of injuries.

Welch was taken to UMMC for evaluation of a shoulder injury.

Pembroke, Indian Falls, East Pembroke, along with Mercy EMS responded to the scene. The investigation is continuing and is being conducted by Deputy Nicholas Chamoun, and Crash Management Team members Sgt. Jason Saile and Deputy Kyle Krzemein.

Big rig and small sedan collide in Alexander

An accident with unknown injuries involving a tractor-trailer and small sedan have collided at Bowen and Broadway roads in Alexander. Alexander Fire Department is responding.

UPDATE: 9:36 a.m.: No injuries appear to have been reported as no Mercy rig was called. A tow is responding for the sedan.

Pedestrian reportedly hit by car on Highland Park

A car has reportedly hit a pedestrian in area of 15 Highland Park, Batavia.

City Fire and Mercy EMS responding.

UPDATE 9:46 p.m.: Batavia PD detectives are responding to the scene. Sgt. Eric Bolles confirmed that the scene is being treated as a crime scene. He said officers at this time do not know what happened and are trying to locate a cooperative witness. The driver was no longer on scene. Bolles could not confirm his status. A woman on scene was offering suggestions of where the driver might be. Bolles did not know condition of the victim, who was apparently taken by Mercy EMS to the Mercy Flight hangar to be airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital. A man at the scene was yelling at police claiming they weren't doing anything about the situation. Bolles said there probably won't be an update from Batavia PD until the morning.

Accident with injuries reported at Clinton Street and East Avenue in the city

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries is reported in the city at Clinton Street and East Avenue. City fire and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 9:27 a.m.: The westbound lane is completely blocking traffic. Two vehicles are involved. Law enforcement in on scene and asking for assistance in traffic control.

UPDATE 9:42 a.m.: Occupants in both vehicles required no medical attention; bother were sign-offs. How the accident happened is being determined.
