ATV reportedly hits parked car in Oakfield

An ATV has reportedly hit a parked car in the area of 22 Drake St., Oakfield.

A possible serious injury is reported.

Mercy Flight will be landing at the Little League field.

Oakfield fire is on scene.

UPDATE 10:33 p.m.: Mercy Flight canceled. The patient will be transported by ground ambulance.

UPDATE 10:42 p.m.: Mercy Flight is requested to the scene again. The helicopter will be landing in the town park.

UPDATE 10:55 p.m.: Mercy Flight is headed to ECMC.

Motorcycle vs. car accident reported on the reservation; rider is up and walking

A motorcycle vs. car accident with injuries is reported on the Tonawanda Indian Reservation at Bloomingdale and Meadville roads. The motorcycle rider is up and walking around. Alabama Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 1:11 p.m.: Alabama is unable to secure a crew, so Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments are requested to the scene.

UPDATE 1:13 p.m.: The closest flatbed tow is requested for a Honda motorcycle "with the front end locked up."

UPDATE 1:19 p.m.: A second ambulance is called in.

Rollover accident reported in Pavilion at Transit and Keller roads

A one-vehicle rollover accident is reported in Pavilion at Transit and Keller roads. A female sustained a back injury and is unable to exit the vehicle. A male complains of head pain.

Bethany Fire Department is responding along with two Mercy ambulances.

UPDATE 8:45 p.m.: Extrication equipment is requested and more manpower from Bethany.

UPDATE 8:56 p.m.: The patient with the back injury has been extricated.

Accident reported at Oak Orchard and Lockport roads, Elba

A two-vehicle accident, unknown injuries, is reported at Oak Orchard Road and Lockport Road, which is east of Route 98 (Quaker Hill Road). Elba Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 5:42 p.m.: A caller to dispatch reports no injuries.

UPDATE 5:45 p.m.: A first responder corrects the location -- the accident scene is at Oak Orchard and North Byron roads.

UPDATE 6:28 p.m.: The Elba assignment is back in service.

As firefighters finish working one accident, a second one reported in opposite lane of the Thruway

While Le Roy fire and Bergen fire were on the Thruway working an accident that required a Mercy Flight transport near the Route 237 overpass, a second accident was reported in the westbound lane.

The first accident involved a tractor-trailer in the eastbound lane.

It appears there are minor injuries in the second accident.

Three-vehicle collision reported on eastbound Thruway, Le Roy responding

A three-vehicle accident is reported, with unknown injuries, on the eastbound Thruway at mile marker 380. Le Roy fire and ambulance are responding.

UPDATE 2:29 p.m.: Le Roy requests mutual aid from Mercy medics and they are responding.

UPDATE 2:45 p.m.: One of the vehicles involved is a semi. A portion of the roadway is being shut down completely in order to clear away debris from the accident.

Two teens from Pembroke seriously injured in crash on West Main Street Road, Batavia

Two teenagers from Pembroke are in critical but stable condition at Erie County Medical Center following an accident on West Main Street Road, Batavia, last night.

A 2013 Chevy Impala driven by Daniel P. Sonnefeld, 19, was leaving Dave's Ice Cream at 9:15 when it apparently attempted to make a left turn, pulling in front of a 2020 Freightliner semi-truck that was eastbound on Route 5.

The tractor-trailer struck the driver's side of the Impala, sending the vehicle to the north shoulder of the roadway where it came to rest. 

Sonnefeld was transported by Mercy EMS to ECMC for serious injuries.

A second occupant, Gabriel Johnston, 18, was transported to ECMC by Mercy Flight with serious injuries.

Phouthason S. Kittisack, 18, of Batavia, also a passenger in the sedan, sustained minor injuries and was released at the scene.

The Freightliner was driven by Rondal J. Crosby, 45, of Buffalo. He was not injured.

The accident is being investigated by the Sheriff's Office, including the Crash Management Team. Assisting at the scene were Town of Batavia fire, East Pembroke fire, Oakfield fire, Batavia PD, Mercy EMS, and State Police.

Serious injury accident reported in front of Dave's Ice Cream in Batavia

A serious injury accident is reported in front of Dave's Ice Cream on West Main Street Road in Batavia. Two Mercy flights are called to the scene; one has a 30-minute ETA. Town of Batavia Fire Department is responding along with Mercy medics. East Pembroke is called for traffic control. 

Eastbound Route 5 is to be shut down at Kelsey Road.

UPDATE 9:30 p.m.: East Pembroke Fire Department is also responding.

UPDATE 9:31 p.m.: Both patients are extricated. Mercy Flights are to land east of the scene. East Pembroke is on scene.

UPDATE 9:38 p.m.: Mercy Flight Central with a 15- to 20-minute ETA is cancelled. The patient will be transported to a hospital via ground ambulance.

UPDATE 10:50 p.m. (By Howard): A sedan occupied by three teenage males was exiting the parking lot at Dave's Ice Cream when it was struck in the side by a semi-truck. All three occupants are considered in critical condition though the injuries are not necessarily life-threatening. Crash Management is conducting an investigation as a precaution. The investigation is ongoing.

Car drives into silo on Judge Road, Oakfield

A driver reportedly choked on coffee, causing him to lose control of the car before his vehicle collided with a silo at 2767 Judge Road, Oakfield.

The driver has spoken with dispatchers, although he is reportedly injured.

Oakfield Fire Department is responding. All Mercy EMS ambulances are tied up on other calls. An ambulance from Medina is requested.

The vehicle is a pickup truck with a trailer. There are propane takes in the area.

UPDATE 7:12 p.m.: A hazmat team requested to the scene for a propane leak.

UPDATE 7:13 p.m.: Judge Road is being closed.

UPDATE 7:24 p.m.: Firefighters have secured one tank and are working on the second.

UPDATE 7:30 p.m.: Both tanks are secure.

Farm equipment accident reported in Pavilion

An older man has suffered a serious arm injury in a farm equipment accident on Summit Road in Pavilion.

Pavilion fire and Mercy EMS responding. Mercy Flight is on an in-air standby.

UPDATE 5:52 p.m.: Mercy Flight response not required. Ice packs and blankets requested to treat the patient for possible heatstroke.

Car vs. tractor-trailer crash in Alexander, Route 98 completely blocked

A tractor-trailer and car collided at 10660 Main St., Alexander. The vehicle rolled over; a female passenger is crawling out of the vehicle, according to a first responder on scene. Mercy Flight is on ground standby in Batavia. Route 98 traffic is "totally blocked."

Alexander and Mercy medics are responding. Attica Fire Police are called to shut down Route 98 at Stroh Road. Also, Route 98 is being shut down at "Four Corners." A hook tow truck is called for a full-size semi on its side.

UPDATE 1:31 p.m.: A first responder says "It looks like we'll have all sign-offs, but they need to be evaluated."

UPDATE 1:34 p.m.: Mercy Flight will not be needed and is put back in service. 

Car-into-pole accident with injuries reported in Byron

A motor vehicle crashed into a pole and injuries are reported at 6378 Byron-Holley Road.

Byron and South Byron fire departments are called to the scene along with Mercy medics. Fire Police are called to set up a landing zone for Mercy Flight.

UPDATE 8:37 p.m.: RG&E is called to the scene.

UPDATE 8:42 p.m.: Mercy Flight is preparing to land behind the Byron Fire Hall.

UPDATE 8:57 p.m.: One patient is going by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital. Another patient is going to strong via Mercy EMS.

Car vs. pedestrian accident reported on West Main Street

A car and pedestrian accident is reported on West Main Street in Batavia in front of That Taco Place, 4160 W. Main St.

Town of Batavia Fire Department and Marcy medics are responding. Callers to dispatch report there are possibly children injured who are in the vehicle.

The location is between Colonial Boulevard and West Main Street.

UPDATE 12:42 p.m.: There were no pedestrians involved. This was a two-car accident. One driver appears uninjured. A female driving the other car is being transported to UMMC for evaluation. Unknown if children who were her passengers sustained any injuries.

Scissor lift tips over with person inside at or near Batavia Downs

A scissor lift with a person inside has tipped over in the parking lot between the Tops mall and Batavia Downs.  

The location is a maintenance shop.

City fire and Mercy EMS dispatched. 

Mercy Flight on ground standby.

UPDATE 7:21 a.m.: The location was a maintenance area behind Batavia Downs. The patient was extricated and transported to Strong by Mercy EMS.

Jogger struck by car and killed in Bergen Monday identified

From NYS Police:

On May 18 at approximately 11:55 a.m., Troopers responded to State Route 262 just east of South Lake Road in the Town of Bergen for a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle.

Further investigation revealed that a 2012 Nissan Rogue operated by David A. Yulfo, 28, was traveling east on State Route 262 and crossed into the westbound lane and onto the shoulder striking a runner, Kara G. Hall, 25, of Bergen.

The Nissan continued traveling off the roadway striking a fire hydrant and coming to rest after striking a tree.

Yulfo was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. Hall was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

NYSP Collision Reconstruction Unit, Bergen Fire Department and the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office assisted with this investigation.

Driver dies in one-car accident in Bergen

A male in his 20s, driving a four-door sedan, died in Bergen this evening after his westbound car crossed into the oncoming lane then traveled off the south shoulder before striking some small trees, hitting an embankment and flipping over into a utility pole.

A crash scene investigator said there was no sign of skid marks on the roadway. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Two other people were injured in the accident. Both were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, one by Mercy Flight.

The accident scene was on Townline Road, less than a mile from the location of another fatal accident a few hours earlier. In that accident, a female in her late 20s who was jogging on Townline Road, was struck by a westbound car that crossed the center line and the fog line striking the runner.

No names have yet been released in either accident.

Volunteers with Bergen Fire Department responded to both fatal accident scenes.

UPDATE: The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Elijah R. Coombs, 25, of Oakfield. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Jamie R. Bachorski, 26, of Oakfield, was flown to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight with serious injuries. Samantha J. Wade, 21, of Byron, was transported to Strong by Mercy EMS with minor injuries. Coombs was driving a 2005 Chervolet Impala. The accident remains under investigation. Assisting at the scene where Bergen fire, Byron fire, Mercy EMS, and State Police.

Four people injured, two of them unresponsive after car crashed into pole in Bergen

Four people are reportedly injured and two of them are unresponsive after a car vs. pole accident in Bergen.

The location is Buffalo Street Extension and Townline Road. Route 19 is to be shut down. Mercy Flight #5 out of Batavia is called to land at Swamp and Jerico roads.

Bergen Fire Police are requested to shut down Buffalo Street at Route 262 and Jerico Road at Route 262.

The Genesee County Crash Management Team is notified.

UPDATE 7:28 p.m.: National Grid is notified that pole #7834 is damaged. A second victim has been extricated from the wreckage. Mercy Flight will land directly at the scene, east of Swamp and Jerico roads, on a farm field on the north side of Route 262.

UPDATE 7:31 p.m.: Mercy Flight has landed.

UPDATE 7:41: National Grid reps are on scene.

UPDATE 8:53 p.m.: According to Genesee County Sheriff's Sgt. Andrew Hale, there were three occupants in one vehicle, not four. The vehicle was westbound on Townline Road when for unknown reasons it crossed a double yellow line and slammed into a utility pole on the opposite side of the roadway. The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene; a male passenger was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester via Mercy Flight; and a female passenger was transported to Strong by Mercy EMS. The condition of both patients is unknown at this time. The accident remains under investigation.

Car vs. bicyclist accident reported at East Main and Clinton in the city

A car vs. bicyclist accident with injuries is reported at the intersection of East Main Street and Clinton Street in the city. Batavia PD is on scene. Mercy medics and city fire are responding.

UPDATE: Non-life-threatening injuries; one person transported to UMMC.
