Pedestrian reportedly struck on westbound Thruway

A pedestrian has been struck on the westbound Thruway near mile marker 402.5. Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments and Mercy medics are responding to the motor-vehicle accident with injuries. A first responder on scene said "there is damage on the onramp as well as fluids (leaking)."

UPDATE 8:10 p.m.: All responding units are to stage "at the interchange."

UPDATE 8:13 p.m.: One vehicle is said to be blocking the left shoulder of the roadway.

UPDATE 10 p.m.: This was a fatal accident. We will provide more information when it becomes available.

Five people injured in T-bone accident in Le Roy

Five people were hospitalized late this afternoon after a T-bone accident at the intersection of Griswold Road and West Bergen Road, Le Roy.

The extent of the injuries is not known at this time. Troopers are handling the investigation. There has yet to be a press release issued on the accident.

There were a driver and three passengers in the vehicle that was struck. 

The car with heavy front-end damage was heading south on West Bergen Road and the car that was struct was heading west on Griswold Road.

Le Roy fire responded to the scene.

A two-car accident, blocking, is reported at Griswold Road and West Bergen Road, Le Roy.

There's a report of CPR in progress.

Le Roy fire and Le Roy ambulance dispatched.

UPDATE 4:19 p.m.: Mercy Flight #9 out of Buffalo is available if needed.

UPDATE 4:27 p.m.: Cancel Mercy Flight.

UPDATE 4:22 p.m.: Two victims, unresponsive but breathing.

UPDATE 4:38 p.m.: An additional ambulance requested to the scene.

Car flips over in front of Five Star Bank on West Main Street, Batavia

A car flipped over in front of Five Star Bank, 401 W. Main St., Batavia. No word on injuries, if any. City fire and Mercy medics responding.

UPDATE 9:31 a.m.: The accident occurred on the opposite side of the street from the bank, near the corner of West Main and Redfield Parkway. A driver lost control of his vehicle somehow and struck the two pylons filled with gravel that protect a utility box at that location. It damaged the pylons and gravel spewed onto the ground. The car landed on its wheels and medics are evaluating the driver, who does not appear to be seriously injured. Redfield resident Jim Owen said it sounded like a truck dumping a load of gravel out and when he saw a cloud of dust, that's initially what he thought had happened.

Corfu man died in early morning accident in Middlebury

A Corfu man died this morning as a result of injuries suffered during a vehicle accident at the intersection of West Middlebury and East Bethany roads, Middlebury.

The collision occurred around 8:30 when the driver of a 2013 Toyota Tacoma failed to yield to a 2014 International tractor-trailer.

The driver of the Tacoma, Dean M. Dale, 54, of Corfu, was traveling eastbound on West Middlebury Road when he struck the tractor-trailer traveling northbound on East Bethany Road.

Lifesaving measures performed by New York State troopers and Genesee County Sheriff’s deputies were unsuccessful and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The State Police collision reconstruction unit assisted in the investigation however, officials say it is still an ongoing investigation.

UPDATE 4:37 p.m.: Dean Dale was an employee of UMMC. UMMC released this statement:

We are deeply saddened to learn of Dean’s passing. He was a valued member of our Radiology team since 2012 and a dear friend that will be sadly missed by many.

Dean’s family, friends and UMMC team are in our thoughts during this difficult time.

Two trucks collide at Lewiston and Meadville roads, Alabama, minor injuries

A motor-vehicle accident with minor injuries is reported at Meadville and Lewiston Roads. Occupants are out and walking around. Two trucks are involved. One has liquid foam insulation cargo and it's "off in a ditch" and is leaking; the other is a refrigerated unit carrying ice cream, unknown if leaking fluids, and it's upside down.

The roadway is completely blocked. Fire police from Shelby are called to the scene at Salt Works Road for traffic control. Alabama Fire Department is on scene and Mercy medics are responding. 

Truck tangled in wires on Lewiston Road, Alabama

A truck is reportedly tangled in wires in front of the Alabama Fire Hall on Lewiston Road, Alabama.

It's unknown if the wires are power lines.

The driver is reportedly still in the truck.

Accident with injuries reported at Knowlesville and Lewiston roads, Alabama

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries is reported at Knowlesville and Lewiston roads, Alabama. Alabama Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. The roadway is partially blocked.

A first responder on scene says there are two patients, one with lower leg injuries. "Some extrication will be needed." Mercy Flight is called.

UPDATE 7:20 a.m.: The trapped patient has been extricated.

UPDATE 7:46 a.m.: Two patients taken to ECMC.

UPDATE 7:56 a.m.: Alabama engine is back in quarters.

UPDATE 8:03 a.m.: Trooper Frank C. Velletta said a red Chevy was headed eastbound on Lewiston Road, while a gold Toyota was westbound. For reasons unknown, the red vehicle crossed over into the westbound lane and struck the gold vehicle. The driver of the red car suffered leg injuries and was airlifted to ECMC; the driver of the gold car was transported there by ground ambulance. Neither driver suffered serious injuries and both were conscious and alert when transported. The collision is being investigated.

Motor-vehicle accident with minor injuries on Route 77, Darien

Two vehicles left the scene, and two didn't leave the scene of a motor-vehicle accident in the area of 9548 Alleghany Road, Darien.

A chief on scene reports minor injuries. 

Darien fire responded.

Deputies were advised of the vehicles that fled the scene.

Accident reported on North Street Road in Le Roy, car off road in stream bed

A one-car accident with unknown injuries is reported in Le Roy in the area of 491 North Street Road. It is off the road, possibly "east of the bridge in the stream bed." Le Roy fire and ambulance are responding and Caledonia fire is called for mutual aid.

UPDATE 10:25 p.m.: Le Roy command on scene requests all units responding to proceed in non-emergency mode.

UPDATE 10:34 p.m.: Command orders the roadway shut down and lights turned on to illuminate the scene.

Westbound Thruway accident blocking both lanes of traffic

A motor-vehicle accident with unknown injuries is reported on the westbound Thruway in the area of mile marker 403. Both lanes of traffic are reportedly blocked. Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments are responding along with Mercy medics.

UPDATE 8:54 p.m.: One patient is a sign-off; a second ambulance is called to the scene.

UPDATE 9:03 p.m.: Pembroke assignment is back in service. A Mercy rig is asked to stand by in case needed by EMS.

Person pinned between tractor and tree in Pembroke, minor injuries

A person is reportedly pinned between a tractor and a tree at a residence on Cohocton Road, Pembroke.

He's believed to have suffered only minor injuries.

Pembroke fire, Indian Falls fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 3:27 p.m.: East Pembroke's utility vehicle requested to the scene. The location is well off the road, behind a barn. Also a chief asked for the availability of Mercy Flight as a precaution. Mercy Flight 4 out of Buffalo is on ground standby.

UPDATE 5:25 p.m.: We've received word that the person did not require medical treatment beyond being evaluated at the scene.

Pole and wires down on Elm Street, Batavia

A pole is down and wires are in the roadway at 140 Elm St., Batavia. City firefighters and Mercy medics responding.

UPDATE 1:35 p.m.: A semi truck was traveling down Elm Street when it snagged a tree branch, which snapped off and took down a pole and wires. It lodged between the cab and the trailer of the semi. No one was injured. The ambulance was sent as a precaution; the driver was a sign-off.

Three-car collision reported at the Le Roy Park & Ride

A three-car accident with unknown injuries is reported at the Le Roy Park & Ride, 7855 Lake Street Road, Le Roy. Le Roy fire and ambulance responding, along with a Mercy medic unit.

Accident reported on Route 5 in East Pembroke

A motor-vehicle accident is reported at the intersection of Route 5 and Indian Falls Road, East Pembroke.

Unknown injuries.

East Pembroke fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 11:53 a.m.: Minor injuries. Not blocking. There's a lot of debris in the roadway. National Grid requested to the scene to check on a utility pole.

Two-car accident in the Village of Le Roy

A two-car accident with a possible head injury is reported in the area of 93 W. Main St., Le Roy.

Accident reported on the Thruway in Le Roy

An accident is reported in the area of mile marker 379.8 on the Thruway in Le Roy. 

A person may have been ejected. 

Mercy Flight is on ground standby. 

Le Roy fire, and ambulances from Le Roy, Caledonia, and Mercy EMS dispatched. 

UPDATE 9:37 p.m.: Mercy Flight was dispatched and is circling the scene pending further instructions. 

UPDATE 9:39 p.m.: Le Roy is all set with the ambulances they have on the ground and Mercy Flight can go back in service. 

UPDATE 10:32 p.m.: The person ejected was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by Le Roy Ambulance. All other patients were sign-offs.
