Clinton James Laporte, 22, of Prole Road, Stafford, is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08 or greater, failure to stop and insufficient tail lamps. Laporte was stopped at 2:52 a.m. on South Lake Street, Bergen, by Deputy Jason Saile.
Did you see the spectacular, low-hanging moon this evening? I did, and headed out to Griswold Road in Stafford to get a shot of it behind one of my favorite barns.
Just as he's been doing annually for the past several years, Santa (and Mrs. Claus) made a pre-Christmas stop at Jim DiSalvo's home on Fargo Road, Stafford.
More and more of Genesee County's kids are finding out, the place with all the lights is a good spot to find Santa about this time of year.
As usual, numerous Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts made the trip to Fargo Road, but DiSalvo's home on the night of Santa's visit is open to all the children who stop by.

Unsafe speed for roadway conditions is being blamed for an accident at 11:49 a.m., Sunday, that sent three people to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
The accident occurred on School and Byron roads in Stafford. At the time of the accident, responders on scene reported icy conditions and requested the town highway department respond to salt the road (Initial Report).
Cited was Collin M. Camp, 19, of 20 N. Spruce St., Batavia. Camp was among those injured in the accident.
Also insured was his passenger, Michael F. Sullivan.
A passenger in the second vehicle, Patricia Scheurlein, 71, was also taken to a hospital.
The driver, Thomas J. Scheurlein, 72, of 5881 Griswold Road, Stafford, was reportedly injured but not transported.
According to the report by Deputy Brian Thompson, Camp was southbound on Byron Road around a "reduced speed curve" near School Road. He failed to negotiate the curve, according to Thompson, traveled onto the shoulder of Byron Road before being hit head-on by Scheurlein's car.
A driver who allegedly hit a young woman's car at Prole Road and Route 33, Stafford, on Oct. 10, has agreed to help pay for her new car, she said this morning.
Danielle Lovett, who used The Batavian to appeal to the community to help find the alleged hit-and-run driver, e-mailed us this morning and said the driver was apparently identified and he will pay her $500 deductible on her insurance. Her car was totalled in the accident, she said.
Chief Deputy Gordon Dibble confirmed that the Sheriff's Office arrested William Pitcher, 64, of Thomas Avenue, Batavia. He was charged on Oct. 24 with failure to yield the right-of-way at a stop sign and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
Pitcher's car was apparently spotted by a reader parked at a local auto body shop within 20 minutes of the post going up on The Batavian and notified Lovett of the location.
Brian Hillabush started the "tradition" two years ago, and I did my best to continue it last December -- that is, posting pictures of local homes bedecked in Christmas lights.
As time permits between now and Christmas, I'll head out in the evenings in search of Christmas light pictures of homes and businesses (because of the time factor, probably, primarily in Batavia).

Jim and Connie DiSalvo have once again lit up their property on Fargo Road for the holidays.
The home is also on today's Holiday Home Tour to benefit Genesee Cancer Assistance (if you want to try and make it out before it ends at 4 p.m., tickets are $10 and still available at Go Art!, corner of Main and Bank).
As for the Christmas lights, Jim said this is the 14th year for the all-out effort to bring some Christmas cheer to local residents who might stop by. He said there are more than one million lights lit on his property and some 400 Christmas-related characters on display.
He's been adding to the number of displays every year, but said this might be as big as it gets.
Many visitors simply drive by (and as usual, there was a long line of cars coming down Fargo last night), but Jim said people are welcome to pull up his driveway and ramble around the new turning circle he's installed. People are also welcome to park, get out and walk around the property (which is really the only way to take in all of the displays and the full splendor of the lights).

A two-car head-on collision with minor injuries is reported at 7980 Byron Road, near School Road, in Stafford.
Stafford fire and Mercy EMS are responding.
UPDATE 11:58 a.m.: Responders are urged to use caution on approach because of slippery road conditions.
UPDATE 12:01 p.m.: Byron ambulance is asked to respond to provide mutual aid to Stafford. Traffic is blocked in the northbound lane at Byron and School roads and traffic control is needed.
UPDATE 12:10 p.m.: Stafford has cancelled the assistance from Byron, which was en route and is now returning to quarters. Traffic is being blocked off at Bryon Road and the Prole Road extension.
UPDATE 12:22 p.m.: A fire official on scene calls for a snowplow to help clear the roadway. It's on the way.
David S. Hare, 38, of 5236 Cotton Road, Silver Springs, is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08 or greater, criminal trespass, 2nd, and criminal mischief, 4th. Hare was charged following a report of a man entering a residence at 2:12 a.m. today in the area of Route 63 and Batavia-Stafford Townline Road, Batavia. The suspect reportedly broke the door to gain entrance to the house. He then reportedly drove from the scene. Hare was found by Sgt. Thomas Sanfratello a short distance from the house where his car had driven off the road. He was issued an appearance ticket.
Jeffrey L. Upchurch, 46, of Butler Drive, Bristol, Tenn., is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .18 or greater, and unsafe lane change. Upchurch was arrested following a report of a truck driver and a companion leaving Red Osier on Route 5 in Stafford at 7 p.m., Friday, after being refused service. Upchurch reportedly got into a semi-truck that didn't have a trailer. His truck reportedly hit a tree as he pulled from the parking lot. Upchurch was reportedly found driving his truck on Route 5 just west of the city line by Deputy Matt Butler. Upchurch was jailed on $2,000 bail. (Initial Report)
Jon D. Smith, 28, and Sylvia L. Smith, 25, of 5 Prune St., Batavia, are charged with endangering the welfare of a child. The Smiths were allegedly found on Thursday by officer Kevin DeFelice to be keeping their children living in substandard conditions.
Philip R. Ayala, 25, of 732 W. Bridges Ave., Auburndare, Fla., is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Ayala was charged following a traffic stop on Bank Street on Thursday by Office Marc Lawrence.
Carrie L. Jackson, 32, of 3 Tracy Ave., Batavia, is charged with aggravated harassment, 2nd. Jackson is accused of sending threatening text messages to a male acquaintance.
Frankie Lee Brumsted, 19, of South Main Street, Batavia, is charged with unlawful dealing with a child. Brumsted is accused of hosting an underage drinking party at a residence on Batavia-Bethany Townline Road.
Michael S. Colombo, 30, of Batavia, is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Colombo was stopped by State Police at 8:26 p.m., Saturday, on Route 33 in Stafford.
Eric J. Flowers, 25, of Batavia, is charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of a controlled substance, 7th. Flowers was arrested by State Police at 4:13 p.m., Thursday. No further details provided.
A pair of men reportedly entered Red Osier on Route 5 in Stafford, but were refused service because they appeared too intoxicated.
So they left.
They got into a semi-truck without a trailer and tried to drive off. The driver reportedly hit a tree before exiting the parking lot.
The truck was last seen westbound on Route 5.
State Police and deputies are responding to the area.
UPDATE: It sounds like an arrest was made.
A house fire was reported at 9503 Clipnock Road in Stafford. All equipment and manpower were called from Bethany and Stafford fire departments.
But as soon as the calls went out, residents called to say the fire is out.
It was in the upper apartment of the house and started by a stove fire.
Bethany is continuing its response non-emergency. Stafford is standing down.

Sheriff's deputies have converged on the area of Route 5 and Route 237, Stafford, to look for a suspect.
It's not clear what the initial complaint was about, but the caller has stated the suspect threatened to shoot him.
The suspect may be on ATV.
UPDATE 9:10 a.m.: I've not heard much more on this. There was a consultation with DEC for some reason. It sounds like, though not clear, that law enforcement is still on scene.
Justin J. Wheeler, 37, of Attica, is charged with driving with ability impaired by drugs and failure to keep right. Wheeler is accused of being involved in an alleged hit-and-run accident on South Main Street, Batavia, and was subsequently stopped on Route 98, Town of Alexander, for allegedly operating erratically. Thomas Anthony Sobczak, 45, of West Main Street, Corfu, is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana. Sobczak was stopped on an unidentified road in Batavia at 2:45 p.m., Nov. 15, for allegedly following too closely behind a semi-trailer by Deputy Brian Thompson. Thompson reported allegedly finding marijuana and codeine in Sobczak's possession.
Jeffrey M. Kohorst, 22, of 6105 Main Road, Stafford, is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08 or greater and speeding. Kohorst was stopped at 9:51 p.m., Saturday, in the City of Batavia by Officer Kevin DeFelice.
Michael Todd Dibble, 19, of Indian Falls Road, Corfu, is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Dibble was stopped at 11:35 p.m., Saturday, on Route 5, Town of Batavia, for an alleged traffic violation by Deputy Kevin McCarthy.
A 16-year-old of Pratt Road, Batavia, is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. The youth was charged following a traffic stop on Angling Road, Pembroke, by Deputy Brian Thompson. A 16-year-old passenger in the car was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. The 17-year-old driver was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, reckless driving and speeding (90 mph in a 55 mph zone). The reckless driving drive stems from an alleged attempt to elude law enforcement with four passengers in the car.
Gary David Doctor, 28, of East Main Street, Corfu, is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and unsafe tires. Doctor was stopped on Route 33, Pembroke by Deputy Brian Thompson.
Dylan James Hawkins, 18, of Hilltop Acres, Morrow Road, Pavilion, is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Hawkins was reportedly a passenger in a vehicle stopped on East Avenue by Deputy Brian Thompson. The 17-year-old driver, of Bryant Street, Batavia, was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.
Teriance M. Schramm, 20, of Edwards Street, Batavia, is charged with criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana. Schramm was allegedly seen on Nov. 15 walking down Ross Street with nunchaku ("nunchucks") in his pocket. He was questioned by Deputy Matt Butler and also found to allegedly possess marijuana.
Summer Ogden, 34, of Batavia, is charged with criminal contempt and disobeying a court order. Ogden was arrested by State Police at 8:32 a.m., Saturday. No further details released.
A motor-vehicle accident with injuries has been reported in the area of 9845 Roanoke Road, Pavilion.
Stafford Fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.
Law enforcement and Mercy EMS are responding to an accidental shooting at Godfreys Pond in Stafford.
At the shooting range there, a person accidentally discharged a firearm into his foot.
A 16-year-old from Oakfield is charged with harassment, 2nd, and aggravated harassment, 2nd. The youth is accused of sending threatening text messages to another student and then issuing a threat in-person to the other student.
Richard Dean McKague, 20, of Colorado Avenue, is charged with petit larceny. McKague is accused of attempting to leave Kmart with merchandise he did not purchase.
Janet L. Grossman, 43, of Clipnock Road, Stafford, is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. The marijuana was allegedly found during a probation search of her home.

Donald F. Stillwagon II, is charged with assault, 2nd. Stillwagon is accused of assaulting a police officer with the intent of preventing him from performing his lawful duties. The alleged incident occurred on Sept. 29. (Initial Report)
Adam B. Thomas is charged with misdemeanor DWI, driving with a BAC of .08 or greater and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle. Thomas is accused of driving a 1998 Dodge on Prole Road in Stafford on June 13 while intoxicated.
Sath P. Dhanda is charged with two counts of criminal contempt, 1st. Dhanda is accused of physically attacking a woman for which there was an order of protection in place and putting her in fear for her life. The alleged incident occurred on Sept. 24.
James D. Henry is charged with attempted grand larceny, 3rd, and criminal possession of a forged instrument, 3rd. Henry is accused of attempting to steal something of greater value than $3,000 on Sept. 28 in the Town of Le Roy. He is also accused of possessing forged prescriptions.
Jason A. Armstrong is charged with assault, 2nd, and criminal contempt, 2nd. Armstrong is accused of causing serious physical injury, with intent to do so, to another person in Stafford on June 27. Armstong is also accused of being in the presence of another person he was ordered by a court not to be around.
A man who lives 143 miles from Genesee County has been nabbed in connection with a series of timber thefts from local property owners.
Donnie Eugene Hendrickson, 49, of County Route 17, Bernhards Bay, is facing two charges of grand larceny and one for petit larceny for the alleged lefts in early 2010.
Bernhards Bay is northeast of Syracuse, on the north side of Oneida Lake.
Hendrickson is accused of stealing more than $21,000 in timber.
The first alleged theft occurred Jan. 9. Hendrickson allegedly removed $1,800 in timber from Stein Farms property. He's been charged with grand larceny, 4th, for that alleged crime.
In mid-February, $19,000 in timber was reported missing from Hy Hope Farms in Stafford. Hendrickson is being charged with grand larceny, 3rd.
The petit larceny charge stems from an alleged $450 theft of timber in February from Englereth Farms, Stafford.
The cases were investigated by Deputy John Duyssen.
A concerned citizen alerted authorities of an unusual situation in a Stafford Cemetery about a half hour ago. Seems a pickup truck was there along with some people looking around with flashlights. After all, Halloween is tommorrow and this seemed a bit...instrusive.
Before Sheriff's could respond, apparently impatience got the better of the caller, and he fearlessly investigated things himself. Once satisfied that no shenanigans were going on, he called back and said there was no need for the law to respond.
The prowlers were actually hunters, who'd shot a deer, tracked it to the cemetery and were simply trying the find their kill and load it into the truck.
