ROBERT J. SCHMIT

ROBERT J. SCHMIT – "Bob" "Schmitter" - Age 60, of Batavia, passed away Sunday morning January 25, 2015 at Brothers of Mercy Nursing & Rehab Center. He was born April 21, 1954 in Cleveland, OH and was the loving son of Pauline (Nies) Schmit of Corfu and the late Raymond J. Schmit.  

   Bob was a 1972 graduate of Alden High School and was a machinist at Excel Industries in Clarence, NY for over 30 years. As a member of the Batavia Rod & Gun Club he was an avid outdoorsman and shooting sporting clays and hunting waterfowl.

   Surviving is his beloved wife of 35 years, Linda (Duszkiewicz) Schmit of Batavia and his devoted daughter, Shannon Schmit at home; sister, Robin (Scott) Waite of Corfu; mother-in-law, Dorothy (late Eugene) Duszkiewicz; brothers-in-law, David, Joey (Donna) and the late Donald Duszkiewicz; sister-in-law, Judy Duszkiewicz; niece, Melissa Duszkiewicz; longtime hunting companions, Danny Lapp and his special four footed companions, Ariel, Emmy & Sierra.

   Please join Bob's family for a Celebration of his Life 1:00 p.m. Saturday February 7, 2015 at Grace Baptist Church 238 Vine Street Batavia, New York 14020. Memorials in his honor may be made to Crossroads House 11 Liberty Street Batavia or Volunteers for Animals/Genesee County Animal Shelter 3841 West Main Street Road Batavia, NY.
