Dr. Cuneyt V. Okay

Dr. Cuneyt V. Okay, 87 of Batavia, passed away Monday morning (November 17, 2014) at his residence after a lengthy illness.
 
He was born in Istanbul, Turkey on March 11, 1927.
 
Dr. Okay graduated from the University of Istanbul and did his pathology training at the  Roswell Park Memorial Cancer Institute.  He spent his career working at Medina Memorial Hospital and for Genesee County.  He was known and loved for his commitment to his family and friends, his intellectual and emotional depth, his generosity, and his contagious laugh.  He  was passionately interested in  politics and history,  and enjoyed tennis, sailing, chess, and bridge.   
 
Survivors include his loving wife, Evelyn Kirk Okay of Batavia. Children, Jale Okay of Amherst, MA, Mehmet Okay of Batavia and Kammie (Robert) Scott of Philadelphia, and his two grandchildren, Madeline and Lucas Scott.
 
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family with burial in New Calvary Cemetery in Parlin, New Jersey.   The family has requested no flowers.  Expressions of condolence may be shared with the family at: www.mcandrewfuneralhomes.net.
