Roland E. Marvin

Byron – Roland E. Marvin, 78, of Byron, passed away Sunday, (October 12, 2014) at Genesee County Nursing Home, in Batavia.

Mr. Marvin was born June 29, 1936 in Hornell a son of the late Shurley and Bertha (Henshaw) Marvin.

He served his country honorably with the Navy during the Korean War. He is a retiree of the Batavia VA Medical Center and a past Chief of the Clarendon Fire Department.

Roland is the husband of the late Sandra (Barnard) Marvin, who passed away October 27, 2010.

He is survived by his children, Deborah Baker of Oakfield, Michael Marvin of Bergen, and Dawn (Paul) Anderson-Rosten of Byron; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Alton (Arlene) Marvin of Scottsburg. Several nieces and nephews also survive along with Roland’s adopted second family, the children of Harold and Virginia Whiting.

Roland’s sister, Vera Mae Lewis, passed away just hours after her brother.

Friends may call on Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 51 South Lake Street, Bergen, where Roland’s Funeral Service will immediately follow calling at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clarendon Volunteer Fire Dept., 16169 E. Lee Road, Clarendon, NY 14429. Burial will be in North Byron Cemetery.
