WILLIS H. SHOEMAKER, JR.

WILLIS H. SHOEMAKER, JR. – Age 81, of Medina, died Wednesday evening September 10, 2014 at Rochester General Hospital. He was born March 31, 1933 in Buffalo, a son of the late Willis H. and Genevieve (Koch) Willis Sr. also preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Ruth and infant brother, Dennis.  

   Mr. Shoemaker was a graduate of Pine Hill High School, Erie Community College and Villa Maria College. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and worked for Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. for 40 years, retiring as a supervisor. He was an active member of the Niagara Mohawk Pension Club and actively wrote numerous articles for their publication. He holds the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Life Saving Award, he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, flea markets and had a love for animals.

   Surviving is his beloved wife of 35 years, Marie (Axford) of Medina; loving son, Grant Lee (Heather Marie) of Medina; sister, Sue Ann (Richard) Richardson of Cheektowaga; 6 grandchildren, Riley, Kayla, Maya, Jennifer, Cody & Ayden along with several nieces and nephews.

   Family and friends may call from 3-6p.m. on Monday September 15, 2014 at the Michael S. Tomaszewksi Funeral & Cremation Chapel, LLC 4120 West Main Street Road Batavia, New York 14020 where a celebration of his life and military honors will begin at 6p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to P.A.W.S. PO Box 244 Albion, New York 14411 or the Wyoming SPCA.
