GERRY DOUGLAS STEVENSON

GERRY DOUGLAS STEVENSON - Age 75, of Akron formerly of Batavia, died peacefully Friday morning September 5, 2014 at Rochester General Hospital. He was born August 5, 1939 in Buffalo, a son of the late C.L. & Vivia (Gamble) Stevenson.

   Gerry moved from North Carolina in 1991 to Batavia where he has lived until last year when he moved to Leisure Timer's in Akron. He was a kind and giving soul who lived a simple life, never asking for much in return, always with a smile and good word to those he met. Friends and neighbors would remember Gerry from seeing him sit out under his favorite tree and waving to all who passed by. A model train enthusiast he belonged to the local train club for many years, had a love for all animals and enjoyed the square dance clubs he was a member of.

   Surviving is a loving niece, Diana Minard of FL; great nephews, Mitchell and David; great nieces, Michelle and Melody along with many great nieces, great nephews in Florida and his fur baby "Billy" who has been lovingly adopted by a friend.

   There is no prior visitation and funeral services will be held privately by the family in Florida. Memorials in his memory are suggested to a charity of the Batavia Animal Shelter/Volunteers for Animals PO Box 1621 Batavia, New York 14021.
