George L. Wells

Corfu - George L. Wells, 81, of Corfu, passed away at his home Saturday (July 19, 2014) in the loving care of his family.

George was born December 17, 1932 in Batavia, a son of the late Elbert and Mildred North Wells.

George was proud of his United States Army military service, where he was hand selected to work security for the CIA guarding Russian spies, and as General Lucian Truscott’s personal chauffeur while stationed in Germany during the Korean War.
George enjoyed deer hunting with his boys, who always made sure his blind was warm and dry. He enjoyed maintaining his property with his John Deere equipment. He loved large family gatherings at his home where he always wanted a head count to brag to friends. George drove truck for Angelica Health Care until retiring at the age of 65. George was a member of Holy Name of Mary Parish. George was predeceased by his beloved wife of 54 years, Anna Kuehnlein Wells and his three brothers, Harley Wells, Ralph Wells and twin brother John Wells.

Surviving are his children; Linda (Mark) vonKramer, Carol (Tim) Ahrens, Richard (Claudia) Wells, George Jr. (Cindy) Wells, Steven (Traci) Wells, Michael (Sharon) Wells and Joe Hendry; 14 grandchildren; Matt (Kelly), Jeff (Jaime), Krista (Josh), Autumn, Jesse (Kelly), Katelyn (Ryan), Morgan, Amanda, Teri (Josh), Ashley (Chad), Josh (Audrey), Zac (Erica), Michael Jr. and Danny; 11 great grandsons, 3 great granddaughters and was looking forward to the birth of 2 more in a few weeks. Sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends may call Tuesday 4 to 8 p.m. at the C. B. Beach & Son Mortuary, Inc., 4 East Main Street, Corfu. Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, 8656 Church Street, East Pembroke. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, East Pembroke. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the East Pembroke Fire Department or  the American Diabetes Association 315 Alberta Drive # 102 Buffalo, NY 14226.
