Kathleen "Kay" Mager

Kathleen “Kay” Mary Mager, 84, of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (July 30, 2013) at United Memorial Medical Center.

She was born on October 29, 1928 in Port Allegany, PA,  a daughter of the late Leon and Bertha DeLong Hurd.

Kay was a secretary for Arctic Refrigeration Co. since the inception of the business in 1947 and worked alongside her husband Henry and family.  During retirement, Kay and Henry traveled North America in their RV.  She was a member of the Batavia Society of Artists, where she held several offices and a member of the Genesee Orleans Arts Council.  Kay was also a member of Ascension Parish, the Altar and Rosary Society, Polish Falconette’s and volunteered for the Genesee County Nursing Home’s  art program.

She was the loving wife of the late Henry Mager, who died on August 20, 2009.

Survivors include two daughters, Teresa (Richard) Tamfer and Jennifer (James) Jacobs, both of Batavia.  Three sons, Richard (Victoria) Mager, Michael (Jill Smith) Mager and William (Patricia) Mager, all of Batavia. Sister in-law, Jean Hurd of Oakfield.  Brothers in-law, Leo (Evelyn) Mager and Joseph (Rosemary) Mager, both of Batavia.  Also survived by ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Gay Mager Parker. Grandmother of the late Timothy Jon Rittersback. Great-grandmother of the late Jason Kelly and sister of the late Dolly Swift and Leroy Hurd.

Friends and family may gather to share condolences, memories and thoughts on Thursday from 4-8pm at the J. LEONARD MCANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 2 Bogue Ave., Batavia.  Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Friday at 8:45am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am at Ascension Parish (Sacred Heart Church).  Entombment will be in St. Joseph Mausoleum.

The Rosary Society will recite the rosary on Thursday, 3:45pm at the funeral home.
