Kenneth A. Larsen

Kenneth A. Larsen, 63, of Corfu, died Monday (August 16, 2010) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

He was born in Brooklyn, NY on Novenber 10, 1946 a son of the late Andrew and Marion Swensen Larson.

Mr. Larsen was a cable splicer for Verizon Communications for over 35 years prior to his retirement.  He graduated from Genesee Community College in 1993 and received a Bachelors Degree in Addiction Counseling from S.U.N.Y. Brockport.   He did addiction counseling at Brylyn Hospital in Alden, NY.  From 1965 to 1967 he served active duty with the US Navy in submarine service and later served with the US Coast Guard Reserves.  He always remarked how proud he was to be a veteran.  Following his retirement he worked as a floor attendan and supervisor at Batavia Downs Casino.  He was an avid HAM Radio Operator with the handle of N2JTZ.

Surviving is his wife of over 39 years, Sharon Thayer shom he married on November 25, 1970.  His children: Jennifer Fuller of Schuylerville, NY and Charles (Christina) Larsen of Oakfield.   A sister and brother in law, Judith and Denis Caysinger of Hilton, NY.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Family and friends may call Friday from 4 - 7PM at the J. LEONARD MCANDREW FUNERAL HOME, 2 BOGUE AVE., BATAVIA, where services will follow with full military honors.

Mr. Larsen desired no flowers but asked that memorials be sent to: Camp Good Days and Special Times, 2440 Sheridan Dr., Tonawanda, NY  14150.
