Today's Poll: Should the payroll tax cut be extended through the end of the year?

I am for stopping this tax cut when the "Bush Tax Cuts" end.

As for the nimrods in Congress who have called for this tax cut to end, yet "we can't end the Bush tax cuts because it will hurt the economy" - their heads are so far up their butts they are sneezing poop.

I''m in favor of ANY method of decreasing the amount of the people's money that pours into the bottomless pit in Washington.

'Course they spend it whether they have it or not.

I think Ron Paul is scary as a presidential candidate because of his foreign policy philosophy, but I wonder how he would do as Treasury Secretary? Smile

I'd rather see Ron Paul as Chairman of the Federal Reserve

Not a bad idea, Jeff, but how about NO Fed - or at least one that was transparent?

Definitely would like to see his economic package. Seems like plausible ideas. His foreign policy is scary even though there are some segments that can be worked on.

I'd like to see payroll taxes rescinded entirely. There are better ways to collect taxes from EVERYONE. If you think about it, your paycheck isn't actually income, it's compensation. You gave up a certain number of hours of work and were compensated in the form of a universal trade medium called money. You didn't GAIN anything. That money represents work and now you can easily trade your work for someone else's work with cash.

Income is a gain on an investment. The government loves to tell you is that your paycheck is income even though it's actually compensation. I'd rather see a spend tax in place to ensure that everyone pays their fair share of taxes. If you don't want to pay taxes, don't spend your money. That's kind of tough to do, though.

Doug,
Remember, the payroll tax is the Social Security tax and SS is not voluntary.

Doug, you must have liked Mike Huckabee's Fair Tax plan. I always loved his famous platform statement “Everybody gets in the economy--no more underground economy. Drug dealers, prostitutes, pimps, gamblers, non-Republicans--all of those people out there will be paying taxes. Nobody’s working under the table.”

Jeff,
You agree, then that me, a non-republican, is in the same category as drug dealers, prostitutes, pimps and gamblers?
Nice to know that me, a non-republican, worked under the table for my adult career.
How insulting can that get?
You live in the right county, Jeff. The squeaky clean republicans that can do no wrong

Oh my gosh Bea, Huckabee said it tongue in cheek, I quoted it tongue in cheek because everything on here is not a fight.

Your statement that " I always loved his famous platform statement ", doesn't sound too tongue in cheek.
tongue in cheek, maybe...but certainly gives us a window on how you feel.
nuff said.

Bea, that's the Republican mantra. All you have to do is listen to 1180AM or Fox News. All us non-Reublicans are freeloaders looking to get someone else's money. We are Socialists that pay no taxes and live off the mighty "Job Creators". We are immoral looking to get our free birth control pills. We also don't deserve a tax break because that won't stimulate the economy.

These comments would make for a good discussion about what happens when quotes are taken out of context. Howard, what do you say we institute a sarcasm font?

Charlie,
For the other side, listen to the left wing station out of Buffalo, 1520AM.

It goes both ways Charlie, as John said listen to 1520 AM, according to them ALL Republicans are rich, white, racist homophobes who want to get rid of old and poor people. And yes, I actually listen to 1520, in fact I have gotten on the air with Bill Press 3 times already.

Not all Republicans, Jeff. Just their candidates for President.

Not all republicans are rich, white homophobes. Some are poor and stupid white homophobes, thinking that some day they and their IQ of 80 may get rich off the Lotto, or if not will still need to get rid of the inheritance tax because they're afraid the government might take one of the three dead Chevys or Buicks sitting in the front lawn when they die.
