Today's Poll: Are you confident in the news media?

By Howard B. Owens
Bob Harker

Every day I am amazed at the difference in what is reported and how it is presented on the various "news" sites.

From Fox, Drudge, and Breitbart to MSNBC and the Huff. Sometimes you can't even compare stories and try to ascertain the REAL story because what one hails as "Major Breaking News" is not even mentioned on the other.

Is there such a thing as a truly non-partisan "News Site"?

Not that I've found.

It is very sad that the media in this country act like bought and paid for advocates for
the two major political parties. The day and age of unbiased reporting seem to be over.

Amen Frank, they are in such a rush to broadcast news that, they often do so, before facts are actually established. Then you have those who are political motivated or biases. Agencies that do anything for ratings. Reporters who like to give their own interpretation rather than facts. The phrase, “There is no such thing as a stupid question.” Well there is and we hear it every time a mass killing happens. The most asinine question ever asked by reporters, “How do you feel about this devastating incident?” REALLY!? What do you think? I am waiting for someone to just be an arse and say it was great!

Heck, news medias and social medias can be viewed as a contributing factor with today's violence. They usually play the scene over and over and over. This in a sense glorifies the suspect or suspects giving them fame. It may also suggest ideas to others who feel they have been mistreated or those who have a mental disorder. Not too long ago few years back, you had an incident in California when, several subjects killed police officers trying to (What they called a record) beat the number of cops killed by another group. Like Frank stated, “The day and age of unbiased reporting seem to be over.”

There are just some things the news should delay (Get facts first) and/or stop continually reporting. Besides there is always three sides to a story, theirs, yours and the TRUTH!
