Today's Poll: Are you concerned about the spread of ebola in the U.S.?

By Howard B. Owens
Ed Hartgrove

Personally, no.

Afterall, we have the assurance from the president that the gov't is on top of the situation. And, we all know that, if Obama says something, well, it's gotta be true (ie. "You can keep your plan", "There's not even a smidgen of corruption...", blah, blah, blah).
Well, that 's good enough for me.

Gotta go now. It's lunchtime. "Baa...baa. Baa!!"

I am concerned that there will be a minor outbreak early on. The Texas patient was initially allowed to walk out of the hospital without being tested, event though he stated he flew in from Liberia the previous week. That sort of thing may happen again, leading to an outbreak.

At the same time, I'm not going to be paranoid and isolate myself from everybody just in case somebody might sneeze....

Just another bogeyman to feed the paranoid xenophobic masses. Run up the ratings for so-called news channels. Get some incumbents re-elected. Calm down everyone, those dirty diseased Africans won't infect the good Ol' US of A. Its not an Islamic plot to weaken "Murica. More people will die from the flu this year and there's no panic there.

As long as we having people slipping in from West Africa ,and others like #ClipboadGuy, it will spread. I mean really? Everyone is dressed in hazmat when transporting nurse II to Maryland, and clipboard guys is running around with nothing on. This ticks me off

LOL Clipboard Guy......a great big media created distraction.

Look at he video a couple of times people, do you know how decontaminations procedures work? All of the attending workers, (including the patient) are in containment suits. When they leave the quarrentined room the suits they are wearing are decontaminated or sterilized. Then the all get into an ambulance that was decontaminated. They the went to the airport.

The clip you see, shows one guy who is probably part of the flight crew or ground crew with a clipboard. He isn't in any danger as the patient and those taking care of the patient are and have been enclosed in containment suits.

I watched the hosts on the today show go over this footage this am and all I heard were ignorant comment indicative of gossip reports commenting on something they should know about but ignore to "further the drama" percieved by the public. When about 50 people who havent traveled outside the us are positively i.d.ed with being infected then I will give a little credibility to the conspiracies and worries.
