Photos: Sub eating contest at Molasses Hill

Bill Ripple can now claim he's the fastest sub eater in Genesee County.

Ripple won a sub eating contest this morning at Molasses Hill, the food store at 466 Ellicott St., Batavia. The contest was held in conjunction with the Batavia location's one-year anniversary.

In all, six men who thought they could eat an entire, meat-packed sub faster than anybody else, showed up for the event.

The grand prize, $100, was presented to Ripple by Neal Harder.

The other contestants were Brian English, John Brenkus, Earl Reimer, Frank Bellucci and Patrick Morris.

Just finishing one of those monster subs in one sitting is an accomplishment all in itself, much less doing it faster than anyone else Smile

Congratulations Molassas Hill on your First Anniversary!! You are a welcome asset to our neighborhood. It is true about the size of their subs! One large could feed a family of 4!!

LOL Tim and Rebecca now have me curious, I must get one of these subs. I'm a loyal Southside Deli patron but willing to experiment. (with subs that is)

Molasses Hill subs are FANTASTIC. Me & the wife love that place--so many cool things there to snack on or cook with. An underrated jewel in Batavia.

Hey Kyle,

Get the steak and cheese. Although you will have to live with the regret that you were responsible for an entire cow dying Smile
