Monroe County attorney, college trustee arrested during basketball game at GCC

By Howard B. Owens

A former Rochester City Council member and current appointee to the Monroe County Community College Board of Trustees was arrested at a GCC woman's basketball game yesterday.

John Parrinello, a defense attorney who served on the Rochester council in the 1970s and lost a bid for mayor in 2006 against Robert Duffy, was charged with criminal trespass, 3rd, after being arrested by State Police Trooper Daniel Hollands.

Hollands was dispatched to the GCC gym at 4:35 p.m. for a report of a fan causing a disturbance and refusing to leave.

According to the State Police, campus security reported the suspect was using vulgar language.

When Hollands arrived, he contacted Parrinello and advised him to leave. Parrinello refused. Then Hollands reached for his handcuffs, according to reports, at which point Parrinello agreed to leave, but then reportedly would not exit the building by the route ordered by Hollands. At that point, Parrinello was arrested.

Parrinello is scheduled to appear in Town of Batavia Court at 1 p.m., Dec. 20.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that one of the following phrases were overheard:
1.)"Do you have any idea who I am?"
2.)"I'll have your badge for this!"

Only in Batavia.. I wasn't there to see the incident, but I assure you this area has something in the water. They'd arrest a ham sandwich if they thought it could cover the fine. The trooper must have confused Parrinello's MCC 'hoody' for the gang colors of local meth traffickers. They get so used to the local yokels who don't stick up for themselves, they think they can shake anyone down.

That being said.. the cops are local too, and any self respecting constitutionalist with 'half-a-wit' learned in basic law that under the Supreme Court ruling; Feiner V. New York, freedom of expression is covered due to the fact that the police must not be used as an instrument to silence unpopular views, but must be used to silence a speaker who is trying to incite a riot.

But what do I know.. I'm just a college kid with freetime and reading skills. I would be willing to bet my book money that this nonsense is dismissed. I blame the Trooper's wife.. or possible lack there of.

=D

Parinello doesn't drink regular water. That's for the little people. It's my understanding that he bathes in Perrier water, you know, cause thats who he is.

BTW, I highly doubt you are some college student "Mr. Villiamz". That sounds like the posting of a more mature individual( mature in years, not mentality). Perhaps an alias of some sort? Would have been clever in earlier years, but technology makes your cat and mouse obsolete. William Williams was a patriot, and signer of the Constitution and The Declaration of Independence.

Last night I was unable to confirm the identify of "William Villiamz."

In fact, I couldn't find a single person in the U.S. named Villiamz.

Mr. Parrinello's son, Tim, the coach of MCC made a comment to the staff at the scorers table about beating your ladies team by 100 next time because of the way this was handled. I hope that the students at GCC turn out in great numbers on the day MCC comes to town and bring bags of POPPYCOCK SNACKS. This is a reference to his fathers line during the Merritt Rahn trail that he LOST. Mr. Parrinello sr. Should be barred from any MCC games home or away if the apology from the MCC Board of Trustees is to have any meaning. also he should be tried just as harshliy as the student that have beeen charged with tresspassing at the dorms.

Yuh think, Howard?! J. Parrinello is arrested at a GCC game. His son is the coach of the opposing team. Between Parrinello family members, MCC players, players' families, boyfriends, classmates, cousins and fans- maybe one anonymous soul with an Internet connection wanted retribution?! William Villiamz. Sounds like Sgt. Schultz introducing Hogan's newest Stalag-mate. Thanks for giving credence to the interloper's label, "yokels."

Don't really get your point, C.M., but this wasn't a new account created just to comment on this thread. It just slipped by when first approved 41 weeks ago.
