Driver reportedly seen stopping on Route 33 to hit a child

By Howard B. Owens

Police are looking for a Ford-type SUV vehicle, silver and grey, that may be heading into the city on Route 33, following a report of the vehicle stopping and the driver getting out and hitting a child who had been in the vehicle.

The vehicle has out-of-state plates.

discipline builds character .......I wish more parents used it. instead of calling the police , the caller should have minded their own business.

I was spanked and occasionally took a good whack from my father while growing up. And you know what? Looking back, I was a snotty little punk that deserved it, and each time, I learned my lesson and never did it again. I agree with David. It builds character. And again looking back, did my father ever really injure me? Not really. There is a very, very big difference between discipline and abuse.

Of course, none of us know what the person reporting the incident saw. It could have been a spank. It could have been a slug. Since the vehicle was never located, we'll never know.

It's disturbing how many people still believe in hitting their kids despite the overwhelming evidence that it's not only harmful in the long run, but also generally ineffective.
