The Batavian Election Challenge: Let's lead the district in voter turn out

By Howard B. Owens

Special elections are normally sleepy little affairs where turn out is low and hardly anybody outside of the district really cares who wins.

The NY-26 special election is getting national attention.

Let's show the country that Genesee County cares about who is elected to represent us.

Regardless of who you support, be sure to vote next Tuesday.

If Genesee County can achieve the highest voter turnout as a percentage of registered voters of any county in the 26th district, The Batavian will donate $100 to the Genesee Justice Foundation.

If others would like to sign on to the voter challenge pledge to benefit Genesee Justice, or the charity of your choice, send me an e-mail (address in the footer of this Web page) or leave a comment.

Remember, it's not important who you vote for. It's important that you vote. If you want to abstain, at least turn in a blank ballot.

I am signing on Howard, if we meet the challenge I will donate $100 to Care-A-Van ministries.
These words could not be more true:
"Remember, it's not important who you vote for. It's important that you vote. If you want to abstain, at least turn in a blank ballot." (although I'd appreciate if you wrote me in)
Voter apathy is another reason we get not only the choices we get at the polls but how we get some of the elected officials we have. Make no mistake that politicians not only look at who votes but who doesn't, and what districts have the most turnout. The squeaky wheel does get the grease in elections, let's make some noise in Genesee County!

George, this has never been about me, it is about the principle of taking a stand against politics as usual, the "lesser of two evils" decision that has been foisted upon us by the political establishment, and a stand for traditional conservative values that seem to have been lost somewhere along the way. The short answer to your question is yes, in the EXTREME long shot that it did happen. That is why I must get to Lowes and pick up wallboard so I can try an finish up a remodling project that I am in the middle of, given that next week I may be having to select my staff and give press conferences LOL!

Gabor, Murphy just called and said he's got a hangover so he asked if I would unaccept the YWCA invitation for him. Could you pass that along?
