Members of the Museum Quilt Guild were invited to the "Carnival" for this year's challenge.   Twenty-three quilts by twenty-one members were presented at the January 21 meeting, and will be on display at the Richmond Memorial Library during regular hours during the month of February.  A variety of techniques and colors were used to create quilts depicting carousel horses and other rides, Mardi Gras themed quilts, and fond memories.

Visitors to the show are invited to cast their vote for a "Viewer's Choice" award.

This month, Reel Discussions at Richmond Memorial Library will show the film "The Help." You are invited to watch the free film and join in a group discussion afterward.

Time is 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 23.

The film centers three very different women in Mississippi, in the year 1962. Skeeter is returning from college with a journalism degree, and her beloved childhood black maid, Constantine, has disappeared. Aibileen is a maid who has raised 17 white children in her life. Her outspoken friend, Minny, has never been able to keep quiet and she is hired on the sly by Celia.

Skeeter decides to write a tell-all book of interviews from the maids of Jackson, Miss., which was a very taboo, and perhaps even illegal, thing to take on in the time of Jim Crow laws and segregation.

For more information, call the library at 343-9550 or log onto www.batavialibrary.org.

The library is located at 19 Ross St. in the City of Batavia.
