A new dodgeball league is forming in Pembroke. This league is for people 18 and over looking to get some exercise and have some fun. This league will run for 7 weeks starting January 21. Play is on Saturday nights. There is room for 12 teams. If you want to play and do not have a team. Sign up and we will put you on a team. Registration is due by January 13th. Members of the Museum Quilt Guild were invited to the "Carnival" for this year's challenge. Twenty-three quilts by twenty-one members were presented at the January 21 meeting, and will be on display at the Richmond Memorial Library during regular hours during the month of February. A variety of techniques and colors were used to create quilts depicting carousel horses and other rides, Mardi Gras themed quilts, and fond memories. The Genesee-Orleans Regional Arts Council (GO ART!) announces a Call for Artists to submit work for its first Digital Art Show, to be exhibited at the Batavia and Medina satellite galleries this March and April. The registration deadline is Friday, Feb. 17. Digital art is defined as artwork or prints created or manipulated by digital (computer) means. Artists and art students of all ages in Genesee and Orleans counties are invited to participate. There is no cost. The exhibit will run from March 7 to April 27 at GO ART! satellite galleries in the Genesee County Senior Center in Batavia and in the Shirt Factory Cafe in Medina. Information, guidelines and the registration form are available from GO ART! at Seymour Place, 201 E. Main St., Batavia. They are also available on the “For Artists” page on the GO ART! web site at www.goart.org. An opening reception for both exhibit sites is scheduled for Friday, March 16. Assemblyman Steve Hawley (R, I, C – Batavia) is hosting a blood drive at the Batavia Salvation Army Headquarters, 529 E. Main St., on from noon to 5 p.m. tommorrow, Feb. 17. The assemblyman is encouraging anyone able to donate to stop by the event and help save a life. All those who have not donated since Dec. 23 are encouraged to participate. If you wish to donate, you may call 1-800-RED CROSS to schedule an appointment, or visit redcrossblood.org. Walk-ins are accepted as well. Anyone age 17 or older, weighing at least 110 pounds, and in good health is eligible to donate blood. In New York state, 16-year-olds may donate blood provided they bring an original signed "New York State Informed Parental Consent for 16-Year-Old to Donate Blood" form to the blood drive.
