EnGarde to Encore, the performance part of Engarde Batavia, is running a combination scene study and stage combat workshop starting on February 4th at their Harvester Avenue fencing studio. The workshop will meet from 1 to 3 PM on six Saturdays, ending on March 10th with a showcase of scenes from 6-8 PM. The workshop will utilize the works of Shakespeare and other Renaissance playwrights, commedia dell’ arte or similarscenarios, and original material to build skills in scene analysis and stage combat. Tragedies, Comedies, and Musicals will be included. The workshop is open to anyone 16 and up. There will be material for those whose do not want to engage directly in stage combat but want to work on their acting skills. A new dodgeball league is forming in Pembroke. This league is for people 18 and over looking to get some exercise and have some fun. This league will run for 7 weeks starting January 21. Play is on Saturday nights. There is room for 12 teams. If you want to play and do not have a team. Sign up and we will put you on a team. Registration is due by January 13th.

Members of the Museum Quilt Guild were invited to the "Carnival" for this year's challenge.   Twenty-three quilts by twenty-one members were presented at the January 21 meeting, and will be on display at the Richmond Memorial Library during regular hours during the month of February.  A variety of techniques and colors were used to create quilts depicting carousel horses and other rides, Mardi Gras themed quilts, and fond memories.

Visitors to the show are invited to cast their vote for a "Viewer's Choice" award.

An event on "extreme couponing" with local "master couponer" Michelle Kelsey will be held this Thursday, Feb. 2, at the YWCA in the City of Batavia. The location is 301 North St.

The free event will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and feature a how-to demonstration, and "cash-and-carry" deals and coupons. There will be a Chinese auction, free refreshments and free child care.

"Come learn the dollar$ and cent$ of couponing."
