Today's Poll: How are you observing Veteran's Day?

By Howard B. Owens

Landslide for "It's just another workday." And in the midst of 2 wars costing this country so much blood and treasure. Not good.

I didn't feel like I did nearly enough when you consider the tragedy that occurred in our own backyard on Saturday night. I thanked my husband and reached out to my fellow committee members that are vets and tomorrow I will thank two very special art students that served in WWII as Army nurses, but is a simple acknowledgment enough? I think that next year I'll find some kind of volunteer activity.

I was disappointed not to have the day off from work. I work in a law firm and all of the courts were closed so it would have been nice to have it off. Once in a while we get it for a floating holiday but got Columbus Day off this year instead. Hardly seems right.

Yesterday , the schools had off, the legal buildings shut down for the day, no mail, but chances are most of the veteran's out there went to work. It is their day to take a look at what they have done and celebrate. Remember, they have done a service to us, not us to them. Thank you ALL for my freedom.
