Sallome's deli doesn't list any special .

Not much happening on this website recently .

I have some news for you to investigate . Why does Jason Molino think that he can ride around in his car talking on his cell phone , as with the city police department .

I know what you will say , "they are conducting official buisness".

As far as the police go , they have 2 way radios and don't need the cell , and if it is private, Why not pull over like the rest of us have to .

I see this everyday with the police and Molino .

People that are looked up to , should set examples , not exceptions .

Work on that Howard , sick of reading about only accidents and drug arrests . If it wasn't for those stories , there would be no Batavian .

Thomas,

Your accusation against Jason is potentially libelous. Fortunately, Federal law protects me from your accusations, but not you.

Further, even if true, it would only be news if he was given a ticket, and even then ... we're not in the habit of reporting minor traffic infractions unless related to some other issue (accident or other alleged crime).

The police are specifically exempt from the mobile phone law while on duty. And for good reasons -- there are some things probably best kept off the public airwaves.

As for our coverage: One of the things that people most appreciate about The Batavian (this is the feedback I get as well as well attested to in the survey we just did) is our being on top of what's going on. In fact, if I miss something of any minor significance on the scanner, I hear about it, and not always nicely.

Everybody has their own interest in news. We do what we can do, and we do what The Batavian was intended and designed to be from the beginning. That approach isn't going to be for every one, but so far it has been a very, very successful model. We're likely to set another traffic record this month.

But for your elucidation, here are some of the non-drug arrest/non-accident posts we've had in the past week (actually, it got to be a bit much, so I didn't even go back a full week; also, I left out weather and fire posts ... not that many of these stories appeared exclusively in The Batavian):

Accusations , that is funny since I seen it with my own eyes , that would be fact . OK you got me with some good answers , but how about a follow up on two shootings that have happened with no arrests ( the one with guy shooting the neighbors door out , and the shooting on Tracy ave ) that must be what the police are always talking about on the phone . It is abused by many government officals and police ,that is all I am saying .

Thomas, the shooting of neighbors door case -- if it's the one I'm thinking of, I thought there was an arrest and we reported it at the time.

As for Tracy Avenue, it was a good reminder to follow up with the BPD and see what's going on. Essentially, no new information since the last report.
