By Howard B. Owens

Mercy Flight picked up a patient at the Batavia Downs parking lot around 9 a.m.

According to a witness, a man apparently fainted and fell off a truck at the Farmers' Market.

No further information is available.

He will faint a second time when he opens the bill from Mercy Flight. The charges on the use of the helicoptor are simply outragous. I had to use the service in March to be transported to Strong in Rochester. I thought I was buying a new machine for the company!

Wanna talk outrageous? My son fainted on a school field trip to the teddy bear clinic at St Jeromes in April. The ambulance was called to transport him to UMMC. Without insurance, the ride cost $881!! Seriously, a couple of city blocks, and that was the bill. I could fly my family to Orlando and back for less than that.

Normally I go for the "emergency personnel loading the patient in the chopper" shot, but when I got that bird going over the two ground ambulances, I thought that was pretty different and cool.
