Funnel cloud spotted in Oakfield

By Howard B. Owens

Reader Chad Hilchey sent in this picture at 11:14 p.m. of a funnel cloud spotted in Oakfield.

A dispatcher who worked overnight had heard nothing of a possible funnel cloud and said there wasn't a single report of storm damage over night. "Not even a tree limb down," he said.

There was a severe thunderstorm watch overnight, which was lifted at 6 a.m.

UPDATE: Chad clarifies that he took the picture around 6:30 p.m.

I do not think that's a funnel cloud... I don't see any rotation or a wall cloud. Though, I could be wrong as I wasn't there. Has anyone confirmed with the NWS regarding it?? I wouldn't report it as a funnel cloud until it was confirmed.

Regardless, it is a very nice picture!! :)

Crazy that this is up here.. I have video from yesterday around the same time (between 6:30-6:45ish P.M.) Of a rotating cloud in Darien. I thought maybe i was crazy so i grabbed the camera and taped it. With in a matter of seconds it went away though, it didnt form downwards like in this picture, thank goodness!!
