Burnt food sets off fire alarm at College Village

By Howard B. Owens

Burnt food on the stove has set off a fire alarm of Hickory Hall of the College Village near GCC.

Town of Batavia fire units are responding.

The school year has started in full-swing. You might want to make a category for these, as it's a nightly occurrence to have police or fire there. But that's another story for another day.

As do I, I think we (unofficially) had about 70-100 alarms two years ago. Last year wasn't a whole lot better. I'm going out on a limb here with regard to wording, but this year had better not be more of the same. So far it's not looking good, but at least GCSO/NYSP is part of first response now, at least it helps deter some of the false pulls.

I know that the total count during the first semester alone two years ago was around 50, officially. I lost count afterwards, between the busted windows and stabbings.
