Darien teen in trouble for Internet activity

It might be obvious to most, but you should probably stick to logging in to your own Internet accounts. In fact,  you can get in trouble for logging in to another person's Web site accounts and making changes. 

A Darien teenager is learning that lesson right now as 17-year old Brittany N. Barto was issued a ticket to appear in Darien Town Court on March 24 after logging into somebody else's account, where she made unspecified changes.

According to The Buffalo News, it caused the victim "a substantial inconvenience."

Do note that the NYS Laws site runs primarily on Javascript and doesn't provide hard links to article pages by default. I sort of had to "force" a link to that page. As such, none of the links are going to work when clicked. You'll have to manually look up the article and sections by going to http://public.leginfo.state.ny.us/menugetf.cgi?COMMONQUERY=LAWS and looking up the specific article and section number.

Though, the entire point of this comment is to point out that something like this that is socially considered "minor" is usually a class A misdemeanor and can easily be bumped up to a class E felony.

While on the topic, illegally downloading music and movies is a class D felony. Just food for thought.

This is my field of expertise, and I thought this was a good opportunity to clarify on things that are more serious that people like to think.
