The last thing NY needs is another freeway that bypasses all the towns. In fact, the Thruway should be turned back into farm fields.

Posted by Howard Owens on August 3, 2010 - 11:20am In fact, the Thruway should be turned back into farm fields. LOL....ummmm No. You had me until there. We do not need another Thruway, but I am not traveling to work by 5&20. That is an awesome drive on the weekend when we have no particular place to be, but not during rush hour! Nice one there Mr. Localist. :-)

Howard, we see what just having thruway tolls does for our economy, can you image what not having transportation system would do? I know for certain, I would move out of town the same month they tore down the thruway, I wouldn’t have a choice. There are not enough jobs in town to support everyone who lives here. After they closed the thruway, I’m pretty sure the rest of those jobs would dry up as well. I wonder how much those who live on Main St. would enjoy bumper to bumper semi-trucks day and night?(See picture above..)

Howard, Ask the few farmers left on Indian Falls Rd if the want that land back LOL. The farmers found it more profitable to sell small parcels of land to people that wanted to build homes and they also got government subsidy to either not grow a certain crop, or grow only a specific crop, and sometimes to not grow anything. There is a fantastic historic landmark located at 2034 Indian Falls Rd. (was owned by the Lamkins) which is an old plantation house with bell tower to call field hands in from work. The first school house was built on the hill at 2032 Indian Falls Rd. (still standing) and a small farm(was owned by The Falker Brothers). I saw an old picture of that and the road (Indian falls) ended at the old dead end that is still there today.
