Letter rom Rose Mary Christian for County Legislature Wards 1 & 6

“Elect  Rose Mary Christian – Genesee county Legislature” sending you a report on issues for Face book…

Sent;: Wednesday September 29, 2009 7: 50 am

Subject:  Political season in full swing

Hello everyone, I hope things are well with you. This is my first time to send you a message about my campaign. My yard signs are up and I’m almost done going door to door and the reception has been great.

I would like to   extend  a special thank you to those of you who have donated to my campaign, and helped me in any way may it be by word of mouth, displaying my signs, disturbing the first drop off of literature. A special thank you to the Democrat County Committee, City Committee and Working Families Party, and to the Independents   (Better Batavia).

Well I have been attending the 2010 budget conference meetings and am surprised that there will be an increase in the Tax rate of 22% to offset increased levy.

The dollar amount on the Property Tax is increased by $ 2.14

2009 Estimated Property Tax Rate based on the requested budget is now $ 11.96

The increase  in Property TAX  is unacceptable for working families.   We need to downsize government.

This budget does not include the 2010 CSEA General Unit increase . The CSEA workers are working without a contract which also is unacceptable

Genesee County will continue to receive an extra 1% sales tax and .25 mortgage tax.   That will go for another two years. If elected I would approve the local law enacting the tax extensions from the State.

Well I think I have said enough today and hope to have other news soon so in the mean time I wish you peace and God Bless America.

Union Correction

Posted by Rose Mary Christian on March 26, 2009 - 4:46pm

  • union

I must correct a statement I made recently to the letters of the Editor and the Batavian.

My friend asked why I’m against UNIONS. I’m NOT against unions. My daughter happens to be a CSEA member and works for the State. The AFSME union happens to represent the POLICE department. And I have always respected the men and women of the POLICE force.

IAFF happens to be the union representing the fire department but I was against the outrageous cost of overtime and that has nothing to do with the UNION.   Unions protect New York State employees, local Governments, School districts. They protect working men and women everywhere.

I apologize if what I said was taken by Union workers other than it was meant to be. As working men and women,   they  organize and represent workers.

Sorry,

Rose Mary Christian.

Ambulance Clarification

  • Council

If there is anyone on council that is sad over the decision to eliminate that ambulance service it is me. This was a service I learned about it at a NYCOM meeting many years ago and the State that had the service was Maryland. I brought it back to the city when Keith Hunt was our fire chief. It is unfortunate that the service was never set up in a way that the city was going to be responsible for most of the cost. Our city medics have demonstrated an exceptional high quality service for all county residents. I well reiterate this decision was very personal and tough for me to eliminate this service.

The county has definitely made a decision to have ambulance service by September 1st   and working all the details out with private providers.

The union has misinformed you of putting the blame on council when the blame from the union’s greed has brought us to where we are. Their salaries are out of control and they want more. Let me shed some light on the cost of retiree health care benefits that are over a few million dollars and that will continue until age 65. That does not include the outrageous salaries.

The towns are also to blame for this mess because, they did not want to come up with their fair share of this service.  It just was not feasible to have the majority of city residents to have most of the financial burden

I also want to say it’s a dirty shame to scare our elderly residents the way this union has portrayed this decision.

I want to thank all of the elderly and those for calling me and expressing your concerns. THERE WILL BE AMBULANCE SERVICE IN BATAVIA.  All of council wants a service here.

Ranzenhofer's Misconceptions

Recently I had the chance to read one of Mike Ranzenhofer’s flyers.  I found it to have blatant lies, misrepresentation and propaganda. The Ranzenhofer Plan , states property tax relief- NOW!
* Double the STAR exemption, providing relief now.
* Cap school property taxes to limit future increases.
* Cut state mandates that cause operating cost of local governments and school districts to soar.

IT'S VERY DISAPIONTED TO SEE THAT MR. RAZENHOFER HASN'T A PLAN OF HIS OWN AND HAS NOT PROVEN LEADERSHIP BUT HAS TAKEN THE PLAN FROM THE NEW YORK STATE SENATE.

ON TUESDAY, MAY 1, 2007 SENATE MAJORITY LEADER JOSEPH L BRUNO SENATE PLAN WOULD DOUBLE SENIOR CITZEN PROPERTY TAX REBATE. THIS BILL WOULD RETURN $200 MILLION TO SENIOR TAXPAYERS

ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 8, 2008 SENATE PASSES PROPERTY TAX CAP LEGISLATION
COMPANION LEGISLATION WILL REDUCE SCHOOL DISTRICTS' COST, PROVIDE MANDATE RELIEF

ON MONDAY, JUNE 16, 2008 SENATE PASSES PLAN TO CUT AND ELIMINATE PROPERTY TAXES NEW YORK STOP TAXING OUR PROPERTY PLAN WOULD EMPOWER SCHOOL DOSTRICTS TO COMPLETELY ELIMINATE SCHOOL PROPERTY TAXES; ALLOW LOCALS TO PUT A TAX CAP IN PLACE.

ALL OF THIS MAY BE SEEN ON http://www.senate.state.ny.us

SHAME ON YOU MR. RANZENHOFER, I WILL CAST A VOTE FOR JOE MESI BECAUSE OF THIS

SINCERELY Rose Mary Christian
