Minor injuries in one-car accident at Oak Orchard and North Byron roads

By Billie Owens

Emergency crews from Elba and Stafford are responding to a single-vehicle motor vehicle accident at Oak Orchard and North Byron roads.

There are injuries and Mercy Flight is being called in, to land at the Stafford fire hall.

There were no serious injuries in the accident.

That's odd, Stafford responding to Elba for a 1 car crash, and landing Mercy Flight in Stafford? I can think of several closer, and as ably equipped, fire departments. Heck, UMMC is closer to that scene than anywhere in Stafford.

I didn't hear the call and Billie isn't that familiar with the geography of the towns yet. I would call the dispatchers to clarify, but they've had darn busy day and are still busy. We'll clarify as soon as we can.

Beth, I don't know. There was an incident on the 5700 block of Main Road that Billie heard about the same time as this post, but we think that occurred in the back yard of a residence. I didn't hear the call myself. Are you referring to something recent? For the past 30 minutes I've not be listening to the scanner closely.

Stafford Fire Department was working a seperate incident the same time that Elba Fire Department was on scene with their auto accident. These two incidents are in no way related. Mercy Flight was utilized for the Stafford incident.
