Cassidy Crawford recognized as Elmira College Scholar

The Elmira College Office of Admissions recently announced that Cassidy Crawford of Batavia was among the awardees for this year's Elmira College Scholars Program.

The Scholars Program awards full-tuition scholarships to first-year, full-time students through an application process. Eligible applicants need to have a 3.7 unweighted academic GPA. A committee reviewed the applications, which included letters of recommendation, personal statements, and a 500-700-word essay based on a prompt. The Elmira Scholars will receive a full-tuition scholarship, renewable at the level of the entering year for up to four years, upon enrollment at Elmira College.

University of Mississippi celebrates December 2023 graduate Zachery Greer

Zachery Greer, of East Bethany, is among the more than 670 students who graduated from the University of Mississippi in December 2023.

Greer, who majored in Criminal Justice, received a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice degree in the School of Applied Sciences.

"Congratulations to our December 2023 graduates who are distinguished by their dedication to academic success," UM Chancellor Glenn Boyce said. "They accomplished so much during their years at the university. I applaud them and can't wait to see all the ways they will continue building their legacies that began here."

December 2023 graduates are invited to walk across the stage at the University of Mississippi 2024 Commencement exercises, which will be held May 8-12. Morning Convocation will be held on Saturday, May 11 at 9 a.m. in the Grove. In the case of inclement weather, Morning Convocation will be held at 9 a.m. in the Sandy and John Black Pavilion at Ole Miss.

Brady Fix earns a spot on the dean's list at Coastal Carolina University

More than 3,000 undergraduate students at Coastal Carolina University were named to the Dean's List for the Fall 2023 semester, including Brady Fix, from Le Roy. 

Students who make the Dean's List have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher (3.25 for freshmen) for the semester.

Batavia National Guard soldier receives new rank, new responsibilities

Major General Ray Shields, the adjutant general for the state of New York, announces the recent promotion of members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership.

Richard Stewart from Batavia, assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 427th Brigade Support Battalion, received a promotion on Jan. 16 to the rank of chief warrant officer 4.

Army National Guard promotions are based on a Soldier's overall performance, demonstrated leadership abilities, professionalism, and future development potential.

These promotions recognize the best-qualified Soldiers for a career in the New York Army National Guard.

Rachael Herold named to fall 2023 dean's list at SUNY Delhi

UB named 4,017 students named to its fall 2023 dean's list.

To qualify for the dean's list, full-time undergraduate students must demonstrate academic excellence by earning a grade point average of at least 3.600 while completing a minimum of 15 or more UB credit hours, of which 12 are graded (A-F) credits. Students are named to the dean's list at the end of the fall and spring semesters.

Oakfield Alabama graduate makes dean's list at SUNY Cobleskill

Kameron Cusmano, of Batavia, has been named to the Dean’s list for his outstanding academic achievement for the 2023 Fall semester.

Students must achieve a semester average of 3.50 or higher to be recognized. 

Kameron, a second-year student at SUNY Cobleskill, is majoring in Agricultural Technology/Business. He is the son of Michael and Karen Cusmano of Batavia.

Alayna Streeter named to Hartwick College's fall 2023 dean's list

Making the Dean's List is an indication of excellence in academic work. To qualify, students must complete at least 12 academic credits during a term with a grade point average of at least 3.50 and no incompletes.

SUNY Cortland announces its fall 2023 dean's list
